Just responding to you spreading misinformation. I don't love my phone or care all that much, but your FUD is kind of a joke. I could make up shit like how you have to recompile Android every time you customize it but that would be as misinformed as you.

Also, I have used a number of Android phones. I've had two living in my house for a couple years, and played with others. They're fine.

I am not making any of this up. You cant jailbreak without putting the phone in recovery, without connecting the phone to your pc, without using greensn0w or redpois0n or whatever the newest hack is. Winterboard is barely a skin and was causing crashes. SMS+ was awesome when it was the only way to forward text messages. You might not have encountered those issues but that does not mean they do not exist.

Dude. My jailbreak went like this:

Plug in phone to computer. Launch jailbreak app. Click OK, then Yes.

That was it. With the iPhone4S, iPad2, and 3GS, it was that simple.

With the 3G, I went to a website and clicked Jailbreak. Even easier.

No recovery mode, no fucking around with anything. Do you think I'm making this up?

SMS+ is OK, I actually use the default SMS because it does what I need to do.

Winterboard isn't something I mess around with, but it's part of the default jailbreak if I recall and hasn't caused me any issues. I don't tend to skin things, I really don't care about icon themes. But I did try them initially and suffered no weirdness.

Jailbreaking the latest iOS version typically entails tethering. But after some time, they figure it out, and then you only have to tether it initially.

Yup. I always wait for the untether, which they have been delivering more quickly lately. iOS 5 was cracked fast.

I expect a pretty quick transition to jailbroken iOS 6 because Apple stopped trying so hard after the courts found it legal to jailbreak. And maybe, just maybe losing Jobs allowed them to back off a little (I know he didn't like it).

It use to be ok, but it has gotten worse.

As a matter of fact, what are everyone's jailbreak apps for? I use activator, sbsettings and browser changer. I have yet to find a need for anything more.

Activator, sbsettings, browser changer, 5 icons (tray), 5 icons (homescreen), pkgbackup so I don't have to reinstall anything manually after a new backup, LockInfo, lockscreen flashlight, lockscreen brightness control. Some sbsettings toggles like bluetooth and airplane mode. I'm pretty happy with that setup.

The Apple version wasn't full featured. Only Android offered turn by turn navigation which is what I was after.

I retired my 3GS some time ago, but I ran SBSettings when I jailbroke. I love'd it, but it killed my battery life.

This has been a sore spot for some time, and looking forward to Apple's implementation is a little sad, I agree.

I've been using MotionX for some time, and recently switched to Waze for that. I had a standalone GPS unit but it's always nice to have it on your phone too.

Well that was fast... iOS 6 tethered, dev-only jailbreak. This is usually followed quickly by a tethered Cydia jailbreak, then untethered.

I now have one in my new car that I can use, so it's not that big of an issue to have a GPS on my phone anymore, but I like that Apple has finally implemented turn by turn with their new Maps program.

Mine's showing the same. Except the black version. And the 64GB version. And unlimited data (AT&T). And unlimited text.

But yeah, otherwise the same.

I hate Verizon just a little bit for making me give up unlimited data, but the boost from 3G -> 4G LTE should be worth it. I also don't text very often so pay per use is fine with me. I prefer using Facebook or whatever if I'm going to chat.

I was curious about that. A friend of mine at work is on Verizon and has the grandfathered-in unlimited data. So, he'll have to give that up if he wants an iPhone 5?

Pretty much. They force you to take a limited data plan if you upgrade. Also keep in mind that you're still throttled on the unlimited plan after so many GB (I think maybe 3GB). They can't throttle you on a limited data plan if you're a heavy user.

It's not a Cortex A9 not yet a A15

It is Apple's first custom SoC.
