I really don't want to have to download all of my games to SD cards.

Yes, but Microsoft has a higher-end option significantly larger than 32 GB.

That's barely enough to hold 1 1/4 WiiU game discs' worth of content.

This obviously isn't official pricing for the US, but the WiiU controller by itself will cost $172 converted from Japan's pricing. That's the retail price for a damn 3DS.

The actual console itself is $337 for the 8GB mode, $405 for the 32GB model. Again, with the PS3 and 360 both being cheaper with 8 times the storage space, that just doesn't make sense.

Have they said if you can actually play games off of them or if you can only use them for storage? 32GB initially is still laughably small in this day and age for a home console.

Since most consumers won't upgrade their consoles, the majority will be limited to whatever it ships with.

Looks like Black Ops can be played by 2 players. One uses the TV and the other uses the gamepad. Better than split-screen for sure.

There's no point in posting this now, since this went up in news while I was asleep, but whatever.

This was stuff I cribbed from a few twitter feeds:

*US: November 18. Europe: November 30.

*US: Basic/299.99, Premium/349.99.

*Nintendo Network Premium exclusive with premium bundle, and gives 10% off all digital content.

*Nintendo Land is a pack-in with premium in us/europe.

*Most wii titles/accessories will work on WiiU.

*Gamepads will be available after thr release of compatible 2-player titles.

*retailers in europe will decide the pricing of the bundles.

*Rayman Legends, Zombi U launch titles in europe.

Nintendo Tvii: watch tv shows, movies and sports on WiiU. Includes netflix, hulu plus, and amazon instant video, and live television. Is free, doesn't require a monthly fee.

*Bayonetta 2 is exclusive to WiiU and will be published by Nintendo.

*Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for 3DS/WiiU in us on march 2013. Also for europe. Supports cross-platform play.

Cool bonus: Nintendo of Japan is bundling the premium model with access to a free beta of Dragon Quest X. Save data from there can be transferred to the final game when it ships. (Siliconera)

LOLOLOLOL

Seriously, these tiny storage amounts on some consoles are just ludicrous.

A 320gb PS3 with Assassin's Creed 3 packed in for $299 seems like a better deal to me.

Neither of the FPS titles looks very promising. That is, not counting COD.

Here's hoping something fills the void.

To all the people who 'don't get' WiiU

Quote:
Like most sensate organisms, Gabriel didn’t know what he was supposed to think about the Wii U. Reasonable, perceptive creatures can’t be faulted for thinking that the enhanced controller was simply a peripheral, not terribly unlike the two fairly high concept peripherals they might already have been asked to purchase - one which is placed on the floor, of all places, and another that increases the resolution of the remote when used in space (?). The idea that a new controller would come out that has a teevee in there isn’t that weird.

Playing it at PAX sold it to him big, though, because the power of those asymmetric experiences is immense. His boy was there, and the young man was haunting his family ghost-style while everyone else scurried around in terror, and I can only imagine his face. We had lighter versions of this experience before - recall that, as the only people on earth who liked Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, we were receiving private correspondence from our parents, crafting, and all manner of things in a completely private way. But there’s so many ways to play with hidden information both competitively and cooperatively - it’s a staple of board and card games - that it’s easy to get excited about even the more obvious manifestations.

It doesn’t need to have the explicit D&D brand, but it could, and it would help to communicate the basic idea. I had Neverwinter Nights, certainly, but that toolset encompasses a very wide set of possibilities. It’s not “couch compatible.” It doesn’t need to be that broad to be enjoyable, and the easier it is to play the more likely that it will be played. I’m not bagging on it, I had awesome times in there. But it’s a much bigger gun than is required for most people, and its heft is intimidating. I think about something like Super Dungeon Explore, and how you’re basically just hurling great handfuls of figurines at players, and it’s fucking rad. The only bad part is the setup, which would go out the window here. I don’t know. Seems good.
