Apparently while every other Verizon phone on LTE can do both calls and data at the same time the iphone 5 cannot due to their implementation http://gizmodo.com/5943152/verizons-...-the-same-time |

Besides the fact that you made me go to Gizmodo, it's not as clear as you might think:

I can't use an iPhone if it's jailbroken, after-market unlock, and I have had more app crashes in 2 weeks than I had in the 6 months before, on an unstable Android Rom running on an anemic LG phone. That is not to say the ROM didn't have other problems, or was more stable than a jailbroken iphone, but apps rarely crashed
But my point wasn't really about stability. It is not always as simple as two clicks to jailbreak an iPhone, it is not always available for the latest firmware, and it still doesn't lend you to the same customization that Android offers, which is what Bone was saying.

My last few jailbreaks have been very simple compared to what most Android users describe when they customize their phones, and have worked every time. I have the option of using both the official app store and a whole network of unofficial apps that let me do everything I want with the phone. It's extremely stable and lasts me a full day of heavy usage on a charge.
I don't see how anyone can say I don't have the freedoms that they do with their Android, and that was my original point.

In fact, some say lack of customization is what makes iOS superior. I cant find the tumblr of terrible andorid lockscreen and homescreen shots, but it made a very convincing argument.

Woops, I forgot to look at pre-ordering. Does that mean 2 weeks you get it, or sometime after two weeks when we get some in?
Not surprising it's sold out, I wonder how many they actually produce for the first run.

Apple is usually pretty good with their delivery estimates - by this point in the release process, they've been making them for a while, and they have a good handle on how many new iPhones they can get on a daily/weekly basis. (That's how the current CEO made his name in the company- managing the supply chain with nearly ridiculous precision.) You're more likely to get an accurate estimate from their web site than you are from your local mobile-phone vendor.

Well being totally unimpressed with the last two launches of the updated phones. I will be switching over to probably a galaxy s3 at Christmas time. the big reason for me is the microsd card slot. Pay200 for phone and just tripled the space for another 25 bucks yeah I'm down...
Also am I the only one who thinks the new charger is for drunks easier to plug in after a night getting plastered

Ah that's cool, I don't need to fight the crazies for phones then. I'll wait since my carrier seems to have been blindsided by nano sims anyway. That way I can wait for the lumia as well and then decide which I like.
I remember the days when I bought my first nokia, took me all of 5 minutes. Good times.

I just pre-ordered from Verizon and will have it on launch day. Try going through your carrier.

Carriers all do contracts first, and I avoid contracts. It's fine, I'm not in any rush, twas more curiousity since I need a new phone and I don't follow releases in general. Sounds like they have a good handle on supply, better than some companies I can think of.

As someone who spent half a day desperately trying to revert back to iOS3 from 4, I wasn't laughing so much.

EDIT: Well, damn. I did have to download a tiny patch to allow Chrome to be my default browser. That was rough.

And one of the touted features, Wideband audio is not available on any US carrier. Sprint is currently the only one using the tech, but the iPhone 5 is not compatible with their implementation.

I pre-ordered an iPhone 5 32GB from Apple last night and got in on the first batch. It will be delivered Sept. 21st. My last iPhone was a 3G and I switched to Droid at the time because Google Maps was a better maps feature than anything Apple offered. The phone I'm using now is a Droid Incredible running Android 2.3. I'll be glad to get something recent finally.
