WeekDAY gaming(9/10/12)- What are YOU still playing?

Welcome to the weekday. So sad the weekend ends. I have a butt ton of work to do this week catching up due to the holiday and my sick day last week.

In other news today is World Suicide Prevention Day http://www.iasp.info/wspd/ smile at a stranger and be nice to your coworkers today it could make a difference.

In other news I didn't play anything, but I earned a wife achievement for watching Santa play Sleeping Dogs. This week I'll be playing the make a bunch of Christmas presents in the evenings game.

What will YOU play?

Hey, you said you liked watching me play Sleeping Dogs. I can't help it if you missed out on one of the biggest parts of the game so far

More KoA: Reckoning this week along with working through more TV series on Netflix. It's a difficult job but someone has to do it.

Also, while I love Star Trek: TNG, my Satan, it was chock full of cheese in the first 7 episodes. #8 (with The Traveller) was the first episode I felt was really solid.

Oh, and the greatest food ever made is released at Target today: Candy Corn Oreos. I have a pallet ordered.

Torchlight and The Longest Journey are probably what will get the most attention this week when I can find the time to sit down with a game. I played a bit of both over the weekend and have been thoroughly enjoying them. Torchlight more so than TLJ, it's been too long since I've played a game in that vein.

Double Dragon Neon comes out on PSN this week, and it’s free with Plus, so I’m sure I’ll give that a play. They’d better not fuck up Double Dragon. That Scott Pilgrim game from last year is also free with Plus this week, so I’ll try to fire that up as well.

I picked up a bag of Candy Corn M&Ms but I'm not sure I want to try the Oreos.

I reformatted my Netbook last night to get it back to it's zippy self. I am thinking about installing a few older games or an EMU or two for my random daily gaming on the go. I spend way too much time in my car these days.

I'm debating about getting a Kindle. Thing is, I might be a little bit interested in text to voice. I know it is lame but again, I spend a lot of time in my car. I really want the lit paperwhite too and the higher contrast screen. Stupid Amazon, why can't I have both?

This weekend my wife and I discovered Archer and watched the first two seasons on Netflix. Lots of fun was had.

I may be slowly weaning myself from Diablo III, and moving over to Xenoblade Chronicles. While there are a couple of small complaints I could level at Xenoblade, there are a million things it does that makes me smile and pulls me in. And, I must admit, I didn't see it coming when they did what they did at the first major plot point.

Borderlands - I'm level 19, but I haven't been to many places yet. I'm still trying to find some decent weapons. I actually have a level 22 gun waiting for me since I found a chest in a level 13-15 area that has level 22 weapons in it. And then I kill named enemies around my level and they drop level 4 weapons. Weird.

Persona 4 Arena - I need to finish Borderlands in about a week so I can send it back for another game, so I probably won't play this much. Maybe I'll work on the story mode some more.

Radiant Historia - I only played about 15 minutes, and it looks like I need to play about two more hours to get to the spot where I stopped before. I just need to find some time to concentrate on it.

The Last Story - I still haven't played since that first day, so I need to try to play it a little this week. At least it's easy to make this a game to play over the long term since I don't have anything else I need to put into the Wii.

Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy - I should get back to unlocking stuff.

Today is day six of a seven day vacation. I plan to play Skyrim and Uncharted 1, but most of that will occur tomorrow as I am leaving in a couple hours to go to the Phillies game.

I'm also over half way done reading The Eyes of the Dragon.

Archer is really a great show. Reminds me of No One Lives Forever game series. Man I loved those. I know they have been shopping a game idea to random devs. I would so play an Archer video game.

I cannot wait to move away from this town... Found out today why my attempts to buy GW2 through Impulse (Gamestop) using my card failed. Impulse apparently authorizes like a penny before actually charging the full amount. I'm pretty sure that a lot of companies do that. Well, ol'Community Trust Bank doesn't like that, so they refuse the authorizations; they don't accept any authorization for less than a dollar. This is the same bank that wouldn't let me buy GameDev Story a couple of years ago because they refuse all charges coming from Asia.

Idiots.

I think I hesitated to this point because it had a very Adult Swim cartoon vibe. Don't get me wrong, I have very fond memories of Home Movies, Sealab 2021, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force, but after a while I grew tired of their tendency towards trying to out-batshit insane themselves, to the point where (to me) it stopped being funny.

Archer definitely has the crazy in spades, but the funny far outweighs the crazy. And so many of the racist things Malory Archer says are not too different from what Lucille Bluth would say, only less censored. That, among numerous other things, has definitely sold my wife and I on it.

Atlus is spreading the news that Radiant Historia is $24.99 at amazon right now. If you don't have it, and are at all inclined, you need to get it. It's a great game, with a somewhat interesting take on a time-travel mechanic.

NHL13!

And some more Battlefield 3 since the new DLC is out. But most of the evenings this week are already booked, with social parties, beach volleyball, and fucking hell yes Raiders of the Lost Ark in IMAX!

I can actually agree with all this and was also why I hesitated on Archer. But the good far outweighs the bad. Some of Archers flashbacks to various life moments just cracks me up.
I know one scene they cut had Archers mom trying to sell him to Nigerian baby thieves. I don't think they cut it due to any worries I think it was just a timing thing but oh my lord...that kind of stuff is just golden.

Spent yesterday with some old friends as we celebrated a birthday. Went to the pinball arcade and surprisingly found a very fun machine: The Playboy Pinball Game. I've never seen anyone play it, and I thought "Why the hell not?"

...It was great. Sure, it's a little corny with the scantily clad women and suggestive sounds and dialogue it throws at you, but it's actually a well-done machine. Balanced well, not too much shit going on at all times (some machines just have too much to do), and easy to pay attention to. I'm shocked at how good this machine is. And nobody else will ever know because they probably won't try it.

Cleaning the apartment this week. It's time. Also trying to finish Star Trek: TNG so I can start DS9. ALSO looking for a damn job. No gaming this week. Probably.

Funny that we're talking about AS right now. We just got Cartoon Network up here as I mentioned before and so I'm seeing more of the AS line-up than I got a chance to watch back in the day when I'd track down DVDs of certain shows. I still have a special place in my heart for ATHF but I tried watching stuff like Sealab and such and it just doesn't hold up, at least not for me. I think me from 5-10 years ago was still addled enough to enjoy that kind of loony humour but it just felt stale now. Chalk it up to being an old man or just over-exposure... I'm not sure what...

But Meatwad getting pregnant with a belly full of spider eggs? That's still golden.

Speaking of painful experiences, I spent 4-5 hours this morning reviewing files at work and then had the priviledge of spending 30-40 minutes on the phone talking with the phone company about my impending move... I'm just not sure which task was less fun.

Here's what I'll do to make up for it:

P3P (Vita) - Didn't get to this because I was too busy crushing scores in Zen Pinball 2. Must rectify this!

P4: Arena (360) - Working on Yukiko's cliffhanger now. I'm getting into the tail end of this thing. If I get a few hours to just plug away at it, I'll hopefully wrap it all up within a day or so.

Guild Wars 2 (PC) - I keep putting this off to work on Arena, but I am almost done the Asura starting area now. Woo!

Mark Of The Ninja (XBLA) - This game is awesome.

Sealab 2021, before Harry Goz (Captain Murphy) died, really hit me just right. And I loved the opening song. Some of it was just plain weird, but more often than not it cracked me up.

"We took nature's most perfect killing machine, and needlessly made it a robot!"

"It could be worse. We could be out there...with Stormy."

The whole Bebop Cola episode, as well as the song "Fett's Vette" at the end.

Among other things, but those are the ones that jump to mind years after the last time I watched it. Maybe I should break out the DVDs.

I spent Saturday with the nieces and Sunday watching football. While the Steelers lost, it was still a good weekend.

The Plan™ for this week:
  • Guild Wars 2 - My Sylvari Elementalist has taken over as my main. I'm currently working on her personal story.
  • SWTOR - Pop in occasionally to keep the game updated. 1.4 is coming soon, though.
  • The Waiting Game - When does Karak's RPG begin its Kickstarter? My monies yearn for it!

That is exactly what I thought the first time I saw Archer. Two of the best underated games ever made. Also, Archer is hilarious.

Best Archer anecdote: so for a while I had several Archer clips as various phone alerts on my 'droid. I was returning to the parking garage with my son at the local Children's Hospital in a packed elevator. In a perfect, silent lull in elevator conversation my phone blares out that I have a text with "Beardsly McTurbanhead!" There was an Arab couple standing directly in front of me in full ethnic dress. You could have heard a pindrop in that elevator. I managed to hold in the laughter at the utter hilarity of it until I got to my truck.
