I didn't play very much of 3, but I remember getting quite annoyed at one of the opening scenes. Maybe the second set-piece? It's that little part where you're trying to escape the building that's been set on fire, and the floor is CONSTANTLY. CINEMATICALLY. COLLAPSING. It was just damn lame after about 10 seconds, and it just kept going and going and going. Just straight stupid. I hated that goddamn part. It wasn't hard or anything, just annoying. We get it. The building is on fire. The floor is giving way. Move on already, christ.

3 was allright, only it the shooting was somhow less fun than in 2. Maybe because of the constant "helmet guys". It had some amazing setpieces (the whole ocean part was awesome), but it made the mistake that is was obviously trying to hard to string many together. The story suffered and the the game lost replay value because of it. I only went back to search for the idols.
I'm glad they're taking a break with this, maybe it will be a bit more fresh after a year or 3.

Just started playing last week. Amazed at the extreme hand holding. And what is up with the yellow ledges? Its like the game was made for 7 year olds. It impossible to fail. The desert bored me to tears and yeah helmet guys are the only time I'll lose a gun fight.
Now I'm on a gun fight with dudes with machine guns who take no gun damage and when I try to punch them they just instantly kick me. It is making the game not fun but I'll power through it. Btw, MSRP on the game is $20 now. |

I'm certain there were highlighted ledges in 2. And I am so far liking this game much more than 1 or 2. Mainly because there is a purpose to the hand to hand combat. Unless you were all fixated on the multiplayer for 2 and 3, I cannot see what the hate for 3 is all about. I'm not done yet, but so far the gun battles have been more fun. The locations are way more cool and interesting. And the NPC interaction has been more significant. 1 and 2 were so generic, I have forgotten them already. And I just finished them. I popped out of the water, shot an RPG guy in the head and the went back under water. A navy seal could not have done better. I will remember that. And the fire part was not nearly as overdone as the bridge part at the end of 2. Come on. You know you are giving this game shit because your expectations were through the roof. At least the dragons didn't fly backwards.

I'm just saying, the fire part was pretty ridiculous. Despite my paragraph of argh at that fire part, I can't say whether I love or hate or just meh UC3, as I still haven't beaten it.
I honestly don't remember the bridge part in UC2, though. Then again, it's been several years since I went through it. |

The bridge part ar the end of 2 was great, and a cool payoff. It also didn't last that long.
Then again, i loved the fire as well. It's not that stuff thar made me dislike it.

I honestly didn't mind the fire part in the beginning of 3. I think I had more of a hard time with the water part because I couldn't figure out a good strategy at the time to get through each boat without dying so much.
With that said though I loved the series as a whole and hope they keep it going. I could just leave the game on the menu screen and listen to the music all day which I actually did once.

I finished this today. Of all the games in the series, I would play this one again. I had a blast playing this game. It didn't do many of the things I found annoying in the first two games. The puzzles were not super easy, and it didn't feel like they padded the game with unnecessary levels. In Uncharted 1 and 2, it felt like you were about to find what you were looking for only to find another clue where to actually look. In Uncharted 3, you only found needed items to lead you to the final area.

The puzzles were quite fresh indeed, especially the optical ones.
