Steam Greenlight Highlights

Steam Greenlight is GO!

Steam Greenlight grants power to the players to decide what games should show up on Steam. There are a lot of entries to sift through. Post your favorites here!

I will do so myself in a following post to avoid the impression that I will ever update this one with a collection.

My own list goes here!

I would commit democratically dubious murder to see on Steam:

Kenshi - a beautiful, intensely open-ended wandering band of not-so-incredible warriors -> respectable warrior business owners -> bustling city-empire tactical RPG/RTS thing. Swords and gratuitously detailed damage simulations galore!

Kinetic Void - because I miss Freelancer to death.

Perpetuum - Gritty Mechwarriors-vs-Robots MMO, apparently it's already available to try for free but I haven't looked into it.

Octodad: Dadliest Catch - I really ought to check out the original.

Dinorun SE - the original is a surprisingly powerful experience, with stylish art and animation that's difficult to beat.

Forge - 3rd person fantasy shooter with great visuals. I normally stray away from recommending indie multi-only titles because of the difficulty in finding one that actually has a player base, but this one's just so cool.

Not quite as amazing but would be hilarious to see:

Voxel Elephant Murder Simulator - Outside of defining "Voxel," need I say more? Watch the video and you'll understand. And cringe, perhaps.

I admit to being a jerk and voting down everything that's a MP only game.

It is, but I'm not ashamed. I don't like MP only (or even MP-focussed) games. I won't say I'm happy to see them not succeed, but I don't feel sad about it either.

Nah, I get it. Multiplayer-only games, especially indie ones, are exceptionally risky. They have a tendency to have only a fistful of players after the first month and after that only have a decent-sized playerbase during free weekends. Even if they're good games, they end up being wastes of money and Steam space.

Routine is a first person Survival Horror set on a abandoned Moon Base designed around an 80's vision of the future, Your job is to find enough data and survive long enough to uncover the truth behind the strange disappearance of everyone stationed on the Lunar Research Station.
I'm not much for survival horror, but it has a nifty trailer.

Armillo: The Parallel Universe Mystery

The developers at Fuzzy Wuzzy Games wanted to make a fun, casual platforming game. Armillo: The Parallel Universe Mystery is a fun to play action puzzle platformer where you control Armillo, a space armadillo, rolling, jumping, and boosting around spherical worlds.
Looks kind of like Super Monkey Ball with jumping and enemies. Watch the trailer.

Tower Climb - I already own this game after paying $5 to get into the beta. It's challenging and atmospheric. The quickest description is "Reverse Spelunky".

ooooh, Towns is on there, and it looks like it's been updated quite a bit since it was in the Alpha Bundle...they would give away Steam keys to anybody that already owns the game too, it needed some work last time I played it, but it was pretty fun.

I'm going to pimp Syder Arcade because there are never enough good-lucking schmups

Contrast and Tower Climb are mentioned above.

I thought Signal Ops looked pretty neat:

AirBuccaneers looks like fun...kind of reminds me of Crimson Skies, atmosphere wise:

The first ten titles to find their way to Steam have been announced.

I'm wondering if Black Mesa is going to go in their mods category or if they plan on charging for it at some point?

Gnomoria is pretty fun, although it definitely needs more work. You can play a demo (and buy the pre-build) on Desura. The demo is updated right alongside the main game, so I've been able to check out the improvements they've been making. I'll likely snag the full version when I have time to play it.

Towns has improved a lot over the last six or so months. The Desura version is updated regularly. I pop back in every month or so and check on the progress being made.

Diehard Dungeon came out on XBLIGs this week as part of the Indie Games Uprising III, but it is also up on Greenlight.

The game is described as a Legend of Zelda Roguelike (more so than Binding of Isaac, it seems), and it looks as if it gets quite nutty:

So, I don't get the Greenlight process. At least 3 games that are currently among the 30 GL'd are actually released, and they still don't have them available?

Hell, a few games in the non-GL list are being sold, and are doing well - is it really that much of a stretch to want to put Frayed Knights up there?

I bought this on a whim due to the screenshots, and I've never been so pissed about a purchase in my life. The developers consider this Beta, but I consider it Alpha garbage. It is nowhere near retail-quality.

It's one thing to admit that your game is a work-in-progress and ask the community to help support your ongoing work. It's another to post bogus screenshots of a partial game, and have the nerve to charge $15 for it. Nowhere on the store page does it say this is still Beta, nor that it came from Greenlight.

First time I have ever asked for a refund on Steam.
