Watched Warrior last night. I really enjoyed it. Some of the camera work during the fight scenes was annoying, like they needed to stretch 30 seconds of actual fight footage into a 5 minute scene. The fighting that was actually shown was good, and I could totally buy the two leads actually pulling it off, especially Tom Hardy. He worked well as a striker while Edgerton pulled off the more tactical grappler style very well.

I would have liked to see more development of Hardy's character, since it seemed like he was the main character at first, but most of the drama took place around Edgerton. Edgerton was the only person with anything to lose or gain from the fighting; Hardy just blew into town and started punching guys and got into the tournament. They slowly added to Hardy's story near the end, but other than being a nobody with an ex-alcoholic dad, he didn't have anything to make you root for him.

Still, I thought the movie worked as a whole, and was fun to watch. It was also PG-13, which kind of surprised me. I didn't notice that when I started watching it, but I did notice the lack of vulgarity, which was kind of nice. That kind of thing doesn't bother me at all, but it also doesn't need to be in every movie, including this one.

Two minutes after the guy said that line, and they moved on to a different dramatic scene, I turned to my wife and said that line in the best impression I could.

Without missing a beat, she slapped in the face for the only time in 4 years of marriage.

Over the past week I've been catching up on some of the TV shows that I've neglected to watch in the past year or two. I watched the latest seasons of Parks and Rec (loved it) and The Office (wasn't awful) on Hulu and now I wait for the most recent season of 30 Rock to hit Netflix.

Meanwhile, I'm getting into Community. It's a show I've been meaning to catch up on for a long time. I started watching when it was new but fell behind halfway through the first season. I bought the DVD and now I'm catching up.

I also noticed that Futurama vols. 1-4 were re-released in new packaging to look like the more recent seasons. So... I bought them. Looks like I'm in for a series re-watch.

Misfits
I am halfway through season 2 and I have never seen such natural tone shift. I mean at the beginning they were all twats, which is understandable since they live in the ugliest city in the world. Awesome show.

That was oddly enjoyable albeit well off the reservation.

I think Parks & Rec is the show I'm most looking forward to returning this fall. (Wikipedia says first ep is the 20th.)

Parks and Rec is one of the greatest comedies on TV...but could be greater if they replaced Rob Lowe's character. God, he is so unfunny and one-note.

Fantastic! Jennifer Lawrence is wasted on movies like X-Men and Hunger Games?

The Expendables 2

Better than the first, some of the one liners and cheesy parts got a good laugh out of me. Arnold, Bruce and more Chuck involved made it much better as well. Actually played up on the characters more and was better for it.

Also, fits hates everything.

Super 8. Absolutely loved it. As a child of the 80s and Spielberg's decade this movie was beautifully crafted and well done.
