WeekDAY gaming(8/27/12)- What are YOU still playing?
Good morning gamers! Welcome to your Monday. There is a high probability of overall lack of motivation with expected periods of clarity and work productivity. This week promises to include general feelings of dissatisfaction with current job, moments of frustration with coworkers, and general longing for those down moments for gaming with the occasional use of portable gaming device in the office.
In those stolen moments of gaming time what will YOU play? I plan to play: IPhone: mooniz, words with friends Crafting: crochet and sewn items for a Christmas swap Reading: Something including vampires (really I'm not that picky) Xbox: unlikely that I'll game on it, but if I do; All Zombies Must Die and L4D maybe SAW

More Sleeping Dogs. I'm trying to decide if I want to find the final box in North Point or actually move the story along. I feel I know North Point well enough I could give guided tours including what alley's to stay away from (thugs) or those you wish to visit (massage). It probably will come down to if i'm playing just to kill time and decompress from the day, obsess for the last box. If I'm actually not brain fried, I might finally move on the missions. Besides, I hear eventually you get to play roast a face like a marshmallow.

You even get the choice of roasting them on a stove or in hot coals.
![]() Sleeping Dogs - I finished the story last night. This week I'm going to work on the rest of the favors, races, stat awards, finding the lockboxes, getting half a level of Triad exp, and finishing off the rest of the achievements. Persona 4 Arena - I'll probably get back to this once I slow down playing Sleeping Dogs. I haven't done much in the game yet, so I need to correct that. Usually I would be worried about forgetting how to play after taking a break, but luckily I never understood how to play in the first place. The Last Story - I'm thinking about starting it this week. Maybe I should focus on other games first, but I think I can fit it in. I'm planning on playing it slowly for a while, but perhaps a Sleeping Dogs like obsession will overtake me. Of course if that happens, I could have just played it at the beginning of last week before I got Sleeping Dogs, but oh well. Now I still have the whole game to look forward to. I should probably also find a guide for the sidequests so that I don't have the same problem as jpublic.Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy - I didn't really play this weekend. I still need to clear a lot of songs on expert and ultimate, and I also need to unlock all the extra characters still. Devil Survivor 2 - I haven't gotten back to this yet, and I need to fix that. If I keep mentioning it enough, maybe I will actually play. I should probably do some extra battles at least to get back into the swing of things. I should also look into fusing some new demons for that boss fight if the ones I have aren't good enough. Although maybe I'll just try it with the strategy I read in the FAQ first and see how it goes. I don't remember the exact details of the story, but I'm pretty sure that I already made all the choices that put me on a certain path, so that should be okay. |

My main obsession at the moment is the first week of school. I've been away from teaching for a semester (though it feels like it's been years), and this is a new school, so I'm more nervous than usual.
I managed to sell two whole items in the Diablo III real money auction house last night. After they took their cut ($1 per item plus some fees? Really?) I ended up with...about $3.50. Oh yeah. As for games, I'll probably continue my obsession with Diablo III, with intentions to play Xenoblade Chronicles and Persona 2: Innocent Sin. |

How sad is it that I am waiting to see what PS One games release on the Vita (this week isn't it)? I currently have a PS One with the screen, a PSP, a PS2 and a PS3 all very capable of playing PS One games. Yet, here I sit anticipating what games will be compatible on the Vita.

Well, I spent the weekend ploughing through Spec Ops: The Line so I'm going to get back to Persona related shenanigans.
P4: Arena (360) - I'm done everyone's story from P4 except Naoto's and Teddie's. I'm pretty far in Teddie's though, so I should wrap up both of those tonight and then I'll start to do the P3 crew. P3P (Vita) - I'm getting back to work on this later today. I might finally progress the story past the point that I've seen! NSMB2 (3DS) - I cracked and bought this on the eshop the other day. It's rather good. Coin Rush mode is awesome. That's probably it for me this week. Trying to stay focused. I am on vacation today and tomorrow and will also get a long weekend next week. Huzzah for shortened work weeks! We're going bowling tonight and out to see ParaNorman tomorrow. I just don't know what I'll do with the kids all day today. Trying to not spend money is hard.

Yeah, it's supposed to be tomorrow. I'm just looking forward to having Xenogears and Front Mission III on my Vita.
So as for gaming this week, Borderlands is porbably going to continue to be the focus. I hit level 20 last night, co-op with a few more randoms, and it was so damn fun. I'm playing Mordecai, and I think I'm going to start heavily investing in pistols. I have one now that does really nice extra crit damage and a chance for explosive damage. Love this game. Other than that, I'll be playing more Disgaea 3 on the Vita, and for some reason I've been mildly addicted to Motorstorm RC. Very simple game, but very fun. I'm working from home this week due to the RNC being in town, so that should be fun. The boys are home from school today too, they closed schools due to the tropical storm, so I'm sequestered to the bedroom to try to get some work done. Fun!

Guild Wars 2 (PC): Decided to take the plunge and let my friend buy this for my birthday. Currently in the process of learning WTF everything is/does, and integrating into a new guild. More than a little overwhelming, especially given the aversion I've build up over the last four years since quitting WoW. Still, everything I've seen/read/been told about this game suggests that I should be able to get super into it without any of the bullshit, so I'm cautiously optimistic. Doogie.3086
Turn In Proposal (RL): Finally. Got one or two good edits left and then it's time to be rid of this thing. Then, it's on to the side project and getting that in a presentable shape for conference season starting a month from tomorrow. Some Other Shit: My old co-op buddy might be back online this week, so we might get back into the things we were doing a few months ago: AI War, Portal 2, stuff like that. Also, excitement because a new C-Train station opened a few blocks from here today, so I can now walk to the train instead of driving. |

I had an amazing dream last night that was basically about my dream game. It's hard to put into words just how awesome it was. It was sort of like a Roguelike/Dwarf Fortress/Minecraft combo, and it was extremely immersive - as in my friends and I were literally in the game. No controls or anything, just total VR. We were able to communicate to each other outside the game, and if we died we respawned, but otherwise we were 100% in this world.
The world was different each time we played. My friends and I were roaming around as a group, moving slowly, as the world was very dangerous. One of our games ended when we were all attacked by dinosaurs. Another ended when some horrifying giant monster ate us. In the final game before I woke up, we were making good progress, but I was eaten by a T-Rex, losing all my items. I respawned with nothing, but a friend gave me a pickaxe, so I dug a tunnel until I was directly under the last spot I died, so that I could retrieve my stuff. Then I hauled ass back to my friends, narrowly avoiding a giant beetle that tried to chomp me. It just felt so amazing, so fun, so scary, and so immersive, and then I woke up and realized that it doesn't exist. :/

ADD, what's your Words with Fiends handle? I challenge you to a game!
I expect to play more Persona 2: Innocent Sin, Last Story, and maybe some Darksiders 2. Today I also get to play Take My Cat to the Vet.

The weekend was spent on Persona 3. How was I able to avoid this game for this long? It combines my love of roguelikes (yes, the random dungeon layout and loot hits that itch for me) and my love of Japanese culture in one big steaming bowl of yum. It's hit Miss Destructo's itch, too.
Real Life Drama Oh well. Enjoy the book I wrote. I'll enjoy Persona 3.

Man, Aye. You weren't kidding about the drama. I think you're taking the right tack on the boyfriend issue. Hopefully he'll man up and apologize to you.
And I'm ever so thankful that neither my parents or my inlaws were that level of needy. We're almost on the opposite end of the spectrum. My mom just sends me envelopes with things in them (sometimes a newspaper clipping, sometimes important documents) but she never puts a little note in it to put it in context. And she's gone to the dark side (aka FaceBook) and doesn't call me ever. I'm not on FB so that means that I communicate vicariously through my wife's FB addiction. It's a rainy morning here at Casa Del Spig so we're just watching stuff on the DVR and I introduced the kids to The Price Is Right. I haven't watched it since right after Drew Carey took over. Man, he's looking frighteningly skinny now. He's giving off a real Denis Leary vibe too... and not in a good way. Did you know that there's a Crocodile Hunter movie? Well, there is, and we're watching it because we're so desperate for something to watch on this rainy day. ARG! At least we're going bowling in a few hours...

Last night we watched Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. It was pretty fun, and even Destructo put Facebook away while it was on.

I quite enjoyed Ghost Protocol. The Burge Dubai segment in particular had me curling my toes in suspense.
And yeah, this is a neat little movie. Silly stuff, but it's a good mix of education and goof.

I didn't like the reveal of the bad guy at the end of the first one, all those years ago, but the series is quality. I think part of the success is going to different directors for each one.
