Well, trying to log in to the forums just gave me the error:

Login Error: Portal returned error: 42: {"error":42,"product":1014,"module":9001,"line":39 27,"text":"ErrTimeout"} -- login_controller.rb 94 (fangamer:-1).

So my guess is it's just ArenaNet servers that are overloaded and/or broken.

Dork, a lot of things are messed up right now.

When I went through the early pass code process, I got errors like you did.

And my launcher keeps telling me I need to validate my email account every single time.

Regardless, I just log in and play OK.

PS. Validating your email account will change your 4 digit numbers.

Anyone else having some intermittent freezing/crashing issues? I've tried using the new beta drivers that they suggested, but it keeps happening.

I never even finished the campaigns in GW1, so I did not follow news on this game at all.

Holy crap.

Now, it is just a "themepark MMO" (and an actual MMO this time, unlike GW1)...but they've absolutely perfected that genre.

Public quests? check (My favorite feature of Warhammer)

Streamlined solo questing? check (they removed having to run back and forth between the quest givers)

Fast travel/waypoints? check (No more wasting time hitting auto run and alt-tab)

Automatic level adjustment so you can team up with anyone at any level lower than you? check (notice on my screenshot in the bottom left, I'm level 15 but am currently scaled down to level 10 due to the area I'm in -- very cool.)

Absolutely beautiful graphics? check

This game managed to take me completely by surprise with how polished it is. I should have known better

My only complaint thus far is how they're currently handling overpopulation of the server. They put you in a separate instance, but you have no control of what instance to join if you're trying to team up with some friends. Maybe it's just a temporary measure until things calm down in a few weeks and the overflow will be no longer necessary, but it's an annoyance.

Add meh! Satertek.1720

I like the daily achievement system. It's this games versions of doing your dailies, but it's just a sum total by doing STUFF, not specific things, but just playing the game. It feels like after getting a daily achievement, might be a good time to call it a night.

I wouldn't say they perfected the themepark MMO, more that it's finally been properly advanced from WoW. The realization that having more then one type of ride is a good idea was a major one. Also hiding background mechanics as much as possible, no quest logs or hubs. Just go experience things and enjoy them.

It's always been my greatest hope with GW2 is that it will be surpassed within 3 years, that the genre will finally start moving again.

I am loving how completely different the playstyle is once you switch weapons. I've been playing a necromancer, and when I found and equipped a staff I suddenly turned into a trap layer. I was putting marks all over the ground that gave me various bonuses and the enemy various debuffs. It was fun, but definitely seemed more like a utility role that would work well in a group.

With a dagger and a warhorn, I am all about stabbing, CC, and swarms of locusts. It is freaking awesome.

EDIT: Also, my account name is nickbudz, in case you see me talking and don't want to come back to the list in this thread. I never use my forums names for other accounts, not sure why.

Ravenlock and Sartertek added to OP.

Are the daily achievements cross-character? I thought I noticed that during beta. I'll be finally in-game for more than a few seconds tonight!

I'm still note used to the style of GW2 yet. Really enjoying it so far but I feel like I'm not terribly in control of my experience as I'll by heading toward a Renown Heart only to be sucked into a public quest only to be sucked into another public quest and it just sort of spirals out of control from there. This game must be awful from someone with ADD.

I think if I had a single complaint it would be that some of the Renown Heart quests aren't overly fun. Having to grab bags of rabbit feed and drag them (slowly) back to the tent before the rabbits knock you over otherwise you start all over sucked. And the quest where you trade items back and forth was also somewhat tedious.

That isn't to say they all are. I did get into a snowball fight with a group of kids. There were so many players in that area that those poor kids just got lit up. It was great.

I love like Savok said that there aren't really quest hubs. You quest as you explore the world which is fantastic. I just click open the map, see something near me, and head for it only to be distracted by an epic event.

Sadly, some of the RH's are really hit and miss. I can think of one in particular that I gave up on in beta because it was simply infuriating. In general, it's the ones where they take away your awesome personal abilities and give you something not awesome and clashes with your playstyle. Sticking guns in my Guardian's hands, for example.

Last night I completed Metrica Province, 100%, and got some pretty good swag as a reward. Nothing that I can use on my main, unfortunately, but my warrior is going to appreciate it. I've started converting my money into gems in the hope that gem prices will rise over time. I think it is a pretty safe bet. Now, since we're posting character images:

I'm tempted to pick up this game. But I'll likely not have a lot of time to play other than solo. Any suggestions on race/class for solo play with only occasional grouping?

I'm tripping out on how deep it is; or how deep I imagine it is. I started thinking my Blood Legion story is most likely different then the other two Legions. Then last night I came to a fork in that path. So it's like some folks Blood Legion ain't like mines. Actually it was two forks. And it was early for these decisions. And that's just one race. And I haven't even left the fucking Char area.

How the fuck do you eat a elephant indeed.

Granted I've only reached level 9 or so (Charr Engineer), but if it's any indication then you're not going to play solo. Every quest thus far I've seen has either been my personal story - which I do play alone (it's automatically a separate instance) - or public quests. Even without formally "grouping", teamwork and cooperation just naturally spring from the environment.

I imagine you can play any race/class you want without any trouble whatsoever.

Anyone managed to take down the fire elemental boss in the Asura starting zone? Just spent the better part of half an hour dying over and over to it, along with about 12 other people. We just couldn't get near it.
It doesn't help that the massive damage ground attacks that it does detonate almost the second the warning circles appear.

The legion question is your personal story 1-10.
