Trailer Park: Mass Effect 3 Leviathan DLC

The first premium campaign DLC for Mass Effect 3 launches this week. And it takes the space opera underwater. Leviathan has Shepard and the Normandy crew checking out a site at the bottom of the Atlantic that may have something to do with the Reapers. You can snag Leviathan on Tuesday for $10/800 MSP.

Its going to be interesting to see if they can sell these addons after how people felt about the ending. Even if they did patch it.

I won't be checking out the trailer for spoiler reasons, but I'm quite excited about this DLC. If the reviews are positive and peg this as something akin to Lair of the Shadow Broker, I'll be snagging it very soon.

I hope this is as awesome as most of the previous ME/ME2 singleplayer DLC was. They've really been outdoing themselves with the multiplayer DLC, so that's a good sign I think.

To me, it's not so much about the ending rage, but the fact that this DLC can't really *do* much for the main game.

At least with Shadow Broker and Arrival you felt they were working in backstory for the following game. I've got no interest in this because I can't see it achieving much.

I still think plenty of people will pick it up for more ME, but I traded my copy in some time back. Still, I am interested to see the sales on it.

I'm in the same boat. I generally applaud sp dlc in games like these, but I see little reason to move on with this. I'm done with reapers.

I would rather have a dlc continuing another character like tali or garrus. In a totally different story. It would be cool actually playing those instead of having them as allys.

That'd be interesting, but they'd have to be flashbacks, since nearly every side character besides Liara can die through the course of the series.

Playing as other characters would be neat. It was even cool just playing as generic aliens in the co-op mode.

They kinda shot themselves in the foot with that one but I think a origin story for a lot of chara's would still be neat.

The prothean can't die though, can he?

Still, playing as another race or sidecharacter would be a lot more awesome than a Shepard/Reaper mission.

Well, that's the double-edged sword of making games with consequences for your decisions

Not until the end of ME3. Still, he's a DLC character. James is an option, but he's a human marine, so it wouldn't be that big a change.

Although I'm sure plenty of people wouldn't be interested, I'd like to see some side games set during the course of the trilogy or even before. The Mass Effect universe is complex, and there are plenty of stories to tell that don't have to be about fighting off threats to all life in the galaxy.

I'd be all over playing as a prothean at the height of the last war. They'd have a clean slate and could do all sorts of stuff. Sure, you know that at some point in the future they lose, but if they embrace the epic struggle of a no win situation they could make some powerful stuff.

So, it won't happen.

There's always the option of giving away the prothean with the new dlc. I doubt he's bringing in the cash at this point in time.

Why would you say that? Past the initial release when a lot of people were getting Collector's Editions, you're probably more likely to have customers getting the DLC if they bought a regular edition, especially if it was a used copy.

One of the big reasons for paid DLC is to get money from people who buy a used copy.

Well...its a trailer all right...
That's about it. Since it can't make a lick of a difference I am not interested enough to reinstall ME3.
Agree with Narradisall.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I bought a new copy and still had to pay for the dlc i think. I think the amount of people buying this particular game at this point in time is neglible, and a lot of people will already have the prothean already as well. So selling the new dlc woulf be making more money than selling the old one to a small amount users who still haven't bought the prothean yet.

I was just talking in the hypotecical case of a prothean dlc, which will never happen.

I was speaking of the Collector's Edition. Someone who is going to buy Mass Effect 3 now, no matter how negligible you believe it to be, is probably not going to spring for the Collector's Edition.

Maybe they could make more money bundling the Prothean DLC with this one, but it's hard to tell without knowing the sales figures for new copies and DLC.
