Definitely a recommend. Also - I finally went ahead and ordered Mice and Mystics. The deal from the publisher is just too great to pass up, as much as I love supporting my FLGS... Thanks for the updated impressions on that one, Camel. Game sounds even more charming than I had hoped. Last edited by Tayaya; 08-23-2012 at 12:05 PM. |

I also ordered Mice and Mystics. $50 isn't cheap, but it's a lot cheaper than $75.
I love the theme, I love 1-4 player co-op, and the bits look fantastic. It's hard to imagine I'll be disappointed.

M&M is preordered. Shipping wasn't as bad as I thought it might be, so I ordered from the dev's site (instead of loading up at some place like Cool Stuff Inc for free shipping
) and got the promos as well as the discount. Looks fun and oh, so charming. I'll have to figure out how to paint minis at some point, so I can make it look all cool and stuff...And Quarriors is cool, though some people complain about the randomness. To those people I say... Really? It's a friggin' dice game, of course it's random. That (and the art) is what drew me to it in the first place. The advanced rules also add a really cool layer of strategy if the casual-friendly basic rules ever wear thin, too. |

For M&M, maybe I overlooked it, but did anyone see the estimated shipping date for it?

My wife and I were introduced to Smallworld this weekend and then shockingly she bought me a copy for my birthday. That's a fun little game.

Small World is awesome! If you ever find yourself getting bored with it, the Tales and Legends expansion adds little random events to each turn. It really breathes new life into the game, although the random combination of races and powers keep it going for a loooooong time.

I played Smallworld recently and I agree that it's a bunch of fun. I don't know if I'd buy it but I did enjoy playing it, and would absolutely play it again of anyone brought it to the table. It's a very interesting take on area control games, and the huge amount of randomness in creating the races each game helps it continue to stay fresh for more than its share of plays.

I once again was turned on to board gaming while at PAX. Zombicide was all over the place as was Cards Against Humanity. I've gone through the whole thread now and was wondering if anyone had any experience with Mr. Jack?

That's awesome. Boardgaming to me is one of the most amazing things to do with friends ever.

No experience with Mr. Jack, but it reminded me of Letters from Whitechapel, which I thought looked pretty cool. On another note, I'll probably need to grab Smash Up as soon as I see it around; it looks like a good, goofy time. So does Evil Baby Orphanage for some lighter fair, which I just learned about this morning.

Mr. Jack is awesome. My wife and I have a few two-players games we really like and Mr. Jack is our favorite. The game is between the person playing Mr. Jack (whose identity is one of the various characters you are playing as, and is kept a secret) and the person playing Sherlock Holmes. Each turn you take turns moving the characters around, and the person playing Mr. Jack lets the detective know whether or not he is seen or unseen (based on light and proximity to other characters and stuff). As Holmes, you are trying to catch Mr. Jack, who is trying to escape from the game board. All of the characters have their own special abilities and ways to move around the board as well.
I did a terrible job explaining it but it's a great game, plays fast, and is really easy to learn. EDIT: Also, I played Smash Up at GenCon and was...a little underwhelmed. We had a person demoing the game for us who did a really bad job of explaining things, and that might have been the problem. The game has incredible artwork, a fun theme, and is cheap, but it wasn't really that much fun when I played it. Seemed like it lasted a little bit too long, and we weren't even playing a full game. |

Zombicide looks like fun, then i watched the trailer video on kickstarter... how hard is it to watch the video once completed and notice the static pops while you are giving the narration. ugh. will only end up playing this if someone else brings it out/over.
(yes, little things like that annoy me)

Played Last Night on Earth yesterday. Had a blast! It has all the fun cliches of zombie movies and I am personally a big fan of Flying Frog's use of real people and not drawings as their characters. It adds an extra layer of campy fun (as did the music CD that came with the game!).
The characters are all great stereotypes as well - our team consisted of a drifter, the prom queen, a high school quarterback, and the town sheriff. |

Just made my first Kickstarter pledge, for a game called Jungle Ascent. Looks like a great light game that I can get my wife and maybe even son in on (he's six), and it has what is probably some of my favorite artwork ever. 5th street also made Farmageddon, which I plan on picking up.
