Nope.

What you just described is what happens regardless. The cycle. I'm still a holdout in the phase of "stay away you pricey beasts."

Wait...I am pretty sure you just bought a GFX card that costs more than a premium version of ANY system...

These systems are old now. When they were new, my card wouldn't even have been a low end system. Plus, i had a gift points.

Probably not. I think it's more about there being another layer signifying the backlog goes even deeper.

I was trying very hard to not comment on it. And busied myself with checking out the newest version of Return to Castle Hawkthorne.

Shit, I was just wondering why everyone was wasting time rambling about bullshit HD standards when they could be talking about how awesome this game is.

Makes me want to fire up Borderlands again. I kinda miss that game.

I'll get your 4K tv when you can show me I'll get something magical and better than my 1080, at a similar price as I paid for it ($800).

As for the PS4...my real question is what are they going to do about BC? While it's not a big deal NOW with the current gen, when introducing a new generation of console it's usually good business practice to make the switchover as easy as possible on your customers.

Also, I think I'm out of the next console gen until something neat comes out for it. Like an Atlus SMT game.

Maybe they'll do the same thing as last time. PS3 hardware included for best BC, then phase it out when lowering the price.

Cause that went over so well with everyone.

I'll just be waiting until there's a game I need to play, so probably when Naughty Dog puts out their first game on the new hardware.

I still kinda wish they'd put out a more expensive version of the slim that had BC. If it costs more to put it in there, fine. Give me the option to pay more for something I want, please.

It's especially annoying since my modded PS2 slim (for playing the translated Front Mission 5) started getting DREs. So if my PS3 dies (again), I'm out of luck. Then again, PS2 emulators have come a long way.

I am also in agreement that BC is important enough to make sure it is done RIGHT...not just affordable.

I don't think BC is going to be a big deal to me this time around. With PS2 > PS3 it was a bitch when they removed it because PS2 games not upscaled looked like absolute ass on my TV. This time around that won't be necessary, so I'll just leave the old console hooked up if need be. BC would be nice, but I don't really care either way, I'm not the kind of person to get rid of my old console when the new one comes out.

I feel that the lack of hardware reliability I have seen with both systems makes me yearn for a BC solution in the new one. Again hoping a new system has been worked on and hammered on more than the RROD and YLOD appeared to demonstrate with these systems.

My sincere hope is they have both learned valuable lessons, both from their own company experiences and those of others.

This is a good point. By that same token, though, with the lack of reliability consoles have shown lately, I'd rather not burn out my new console faster with old games, I'd rather just use it for new ones. The older consoles will be far cheaper to replace.

I can see where BC would be important to some, and I was one of those last gen saying it absolutely had to be there, I just don't really care anymore, not for a home console. With this gen we had smoothing of last gen games, they were upscaled to make them look better, but I don't think we're going to see anything with the new consoles that's going to enhance our current games in any noticeable way.

Either way, though, I'm not buying a new console until there's a game I feel I need to play. Of course, I say that, then I'll be one of those fools staying out all night to get one at launch because I get caught up in the hype.
