Yes, depending on your game store.

I know the manager of my local shop. He let me transfer. You need an Internet connection and it takes a LONG time!

Also, make a backup of everything on your SD card so you can move it to the new card in the XL.

Do you happen to know how much you get for the value? I'm considering upgrading to the XL and getting New Super Mario Bros 2.

I got $75 from Gamestop for my 3DS, but it was NOT used towards the XL specifically - I traded it in after the fact. I hear they're offering $100 for the 3DS right now if used towards the XL.

It looks like I may not have lost as many puzzle pieces as I thought. I got a couple of street pass tags today and all of my panels were still there, even though I can't see them when I use the "view collected pieces" option on the main menu of Mii Plaza.

As for how regular DS games look on it - I have yet to try any. I'll get back to you guys on that a little bit later if I get a chance to play some. I would imagine they'll look similar to the way they do on the DSi XL, but I'm not sure!

My 3DS XL should be here tomorrow. My current system is still a DS phat, so I'm pretty excited.

The transfer works as advertised. First, do the system transfer (settings menu on your 3DS), then copy the contents of your old 2gb card to your pc. Take the copied data and overwrite the contents of your new 4gb card.

I booted up Theatrhythm and I have all my dark notes, so it seems that the extra data came over cleanly.

Excellent. I'm glad that it was only my impatience to dump the old system that cost me my data and nothing more. I miss my Dark Notes, I had some excellent ones.... but I'll get them again.

See, I'd like to get a 3DS XL, I really would. But two hundred seems a bit step when you already have a 3DS, which plays all the same software. Trading it in might help, but best case scenario I'm paying 125 for a system I technically own.

I guess I'll have to try a demo unit. If anyone wants to buy my black 3DS for like a hundred bucks I might bite the XL bullet.

I think it is well worth the $100. I've had mine on constantly. Then again, I'm been living in an airport for two days and counting. The thing has been a godsend.

I actually made some really cool videos. The Airtran trains here in NYC's JFK are driverless. You can catch a cool timelapse from the front or rear of the train.

I also made some neat timelapse videos of runway activity and people going through security check.

Way cool.

Agreed. That's why I bought new super Mario bros. 2 from the eshop, and so should all you. Let them know there is a market for digital distribution on the 3DS.

I considered it for a moment but decided to finish off 3D Land instead. Eh. Too soon for another Mario for me. I would however pick up Ocarina if the option was presented.

I was still sure that SMT: Strange Journey was concidered SMTIV, but whatever floats their boat, I guess.

Nice trailer.

And yeah, I also was one of the people arguing that Strange Journey was SMTIV. I think ultimately they changed their mind on the designation, for whatever reason (maybe they really are giving up on main console releases).

So, some time today, I felt my will break with a nearly audible crack, and found myself going into my local game shoppe to trade in my 3DS, with assorted stuff to get me an XL. I got a blue one, because that is all they had left. Given the choice, I might have chosen red, but there's no real benefit to either colour. Wish they had launched with Pink.

So far, it was worth the money. Dream Drop Distance looks waaayy better on a bigger screen, and it seems like the extra real estate makes it so I have a little more play in the optimal viewing angle than I used to. At the very least, the screen is not as close to my face.

Luckily, my local shoppe is super cool and I got to do the transfer right there while me and the guy working shot the shit about a ton of stuff. Cool guy. Everything transferred over beautifully, so I am happy. Took near an hour. Not bad for a totally wireless transfer, I guess. And I did have a good amount of data to move.

So yeah, got an XL and loving it.

Quick question from a newcomer to the 3DS world: objectively, is it worth it to get the XL? I've heard good (bigger everything!) and bad (something about a peripheral not working well and some games looking like a pixelated hot mess) about it.

I have a DS, but am wondering if it is worth it to upgrade to either the 3DS or the 3DS XLOMFGBBQ.

I sold my 3DS for an XL. It's way more comfortable, the bigger screens are indeed better, and it has no problem fitting in a man's pocket or woman's purse. Pixels ARE more visible, but that's not usually a big deal. Some existing accessories (Circle Pad Pro, bigger batteries) don't work with it, obviously, but they're making new ones.

Ah yes, comfort. I haven't played my DS in so long I'd forgotten about the cramped hands.

Now the debate becomes 3DS XL or DS XL. But that's another thread!

I am thinking about a 3DS XL too, even though the most played game on my DS Phat was Metroid:Fusion.
