I was going to say relax, he's being a dick to be funny, but then I just bit a few people's heads off in another thread over stereotyping, so I can't really say shit.

That said, I can't disagree with the overall point. Booze snobbery is just socially-acceptable hipsterism. It's fine to have your preferences, but the way some people look down on the great unwashed who drink mass-market alcohol is kind of over the top.

And my family are former Irish who spent generations in the backwoods of Tennessee and the Appalachians carving out a few tricks in brewing rotted grain in old barrels ourselves, and I get a little fuckin' tired of hearing such utter and pretentious snobbishness about it from a bunch of people no higher borne or bred than we are.

What you might call tradition, I just call momentum.

Listen. There's drinking a beer during a hot sunny summer day. There's drinking whiskey(nothing below 10yrs)/tequila(patron gold or similar to higher)/rum(NO CAPTAIN MORGANS or shit jamaican apple brand)/vodka(absolutely no absolute, potato only)/Soju(all kinds acceptable) at a party. There's drinking a gin(bombay at the least)/vodka(absolutely no absolute) and tonic/soda when you're while you're waiting for someone at a bar. There's also sipping on a nice room temperature or chilled scotch/wine in a glass when you're reading a book or working out a puzzle or watching a movie on a quiet night or having a nice chat with someone.

Beer fits all situations mentioned but that's just how I like to roll. I like to mix it up because it takes too much beer to get me to where I want to be. Drunk but not barf drunk. Beers for maintaining that comfort level for me.

You don't like the taste? Go get yourself a bottle of plum wine or iced wine. If you want to be a man still and earn the love of all ladies at the same time make a batch of white wine sangria. Everyone will love you.

I tried Scotch once. I blame it on being shitty scotch. I ordered it on the rocks, and it was absolutely fucking awful. Like, worst alcohol I've ever had bad. Like I once drank rubbing alcohol by accident and that went down smoother than the Scotch bad.
