I got stuck on what I thought was a fiendish puzzle that was about rolling a ball up a hill by placing explosives to propel it. I was getting angry as I felt that it was too clunky and random of a puzzle with all the backtracking to get more bomb flowers. Then the tooltip saying hit RT to power push balls showed up. I'd have given up on the game because it didn't pop the tooltip.
A little while ago, while being level 15 and trying to take on an optional boss, the basic combat tooltips showed up. Which was kind of.. odd to say the least.

Xerxes:

You just wined too much for my taste in what really should be a celebration for the release of a great game despite the flaws.

Moving on:

A little neat thing is wherever you quit out at/save is the starting screen and from there you go straight into the level slick as snot. No load screen. What a nice little touch and I can only imagine the painstaking work done to have that working for all areas.

I clocked in at about 30hrs. I spent a good deal of time farming to get the weapon stats I wanted/crafted. I did the first 4 or 5 side quests but backtracking is boring and just said fuckit let's get on with the end of the game.

I love the visual style of the game. I freaking LOVE the combat. The music was perfect great fucking job it fit the mood all the time. I guess the only thing that I think isn't as great as the rest of the game is the story. I know a lot happened. But I can't help but feel that I'm still not any closer to knowing what the fuck is going on exactly. It's like...there's still some one who still needs to get their ass kicked kinda feeling.

Ah well next games with the other horsemen.

Found a complete optional dungeon just futzing around; The Shattered Anvil or something like that. Pretty damn cool that there was an entire extra deal there if you wanted to find it, but I was probably a little under-leveled for the combat because hot damn, thoses were some tough fights. Now I have someones special hammer that's supposed to let him make me some special armor and weapons. Touches of world building like that are really cool.

The PC version will be getting an important update:

Quote:
The PC port’s been decried as incredibly barebones – with nearly non-existent graphics options, lousy menus, and the occasional irritating glitch composing its emaciated frame.
Quote:
“During the Community Summit both Jay Fitzloff and I were under the impression that full .config files and final keyboard/mouse and controller hookups were going to work as promised when the PC version of the game launched. That was the plan at the time from a specifications perspective. Unfortunately, especially at the end of the development cycle, sometimes things change at the last minute, and this was one of them. This puts us in an uncomfortable spot as we were acting on the best information we had at the time, and it has turned out not to be in the final game (at this point).”

“Since it was always the intention to implement these features, as I type this, the development team is checking to see what items can get added into the game. While I can’t promise what can be done, I can promise we are working with the proper teams and have expressed the importance of including them in a patch.”

They cleaned up the file system. Like getting rid of the "config" folder. Several other previously empty folders are cleaned up as well.

Exodus it's "whine."

There is a side-quest linked to that dungeon/hammer. But I agree, it's nice to be able to enter dungeons you may not be ready for just by discovering them on your own.

I was able to explore and clear the ruins next to Vulgrim in that initial area beyond Tri-Stone before I'd even undertaken my first task. And when I found my way into the final chamber and met the Level 5 monster (I was level 2) I got my ass handed to me time and time again. So I finally left beaten and bruised, went about my primary task, and stopped by at the ruins at level 6 and crushed the bitch. Felt great!

What level were you? I'm L5 and he still pummels me fairly quickly.

At L7 I beat him easily, using my summoned ghouls and one health pot.

If he hits you you're done. I jumped around like a spider monkey, let my ghouls distract him, and had lots of health pots. He opens up those kill missions if you beat him, so that you can earn the right to be able to kill him.

I used a big 2hander so I could actually see his health bar move. Scythes were just doin too low damage.

Go in for one hit, dodge, two when you feel lucky but no full combos. Always be dodging. You'll figure out his pattern easily enough.

I've been playing on Normal. I'm not a 'combo memorizer,' but I do try and remember the basic one-button combos and then mix it up and see what happens from time to time. I've not had any problem with bosses or enemies thus far (I'm up to the big Forge dungeon) except for a bit of challenge on the last boss I fought.

I like going up in the air ASAP, the A+X popup move is good shit, it can also be done out of a dodge by tapping A during a dodge. Once you get up in air, you can smack dudes down easier and Death seems to do more damage in air than on ground.

I waited until I was about lv 10, after pretty much clearing up the Forge Lands before beating Thane.. your reward.. MORE QUESTS! He sends you off to kill 4 monsters, I killed 2 of them with challenge, one of them was a giant fire-thing that dropped some bad ass lv15 scythes that do only 150 damage a swing.. but also 150 fire damage. The other boss dropped a hammer that isn't too impressive, except it counts STR stat for double while using it, so it actually hits really hard.
I found the 3rd boss, some sort of Skeleton King in a side dungeon. First time he was hitting me for 700 a hit, I geard up better and he is now hitting for 580 and has tons of HP, also does counters if he isn't attacking.

There isn't a ton of side content, like in terms of plot, but lots of quick little mini-dungeons and puzzles with loot.
It is a bummer the PC version is half-assed, like a major bummer, I don't get the lack of options, but then again, I've never ported a game from 360 to PC.

Once I discovered the lock-focus button (F on PC) he was fairly simple. Beat him right after the Drenchfort.

Yes at level 3, just dodge and be conservative with your strikes to avoid getting hurt. It opens a quest chain.

If anyoen has a throw-away Facebook account, could you send me a code for the weapon you get for Liking DS2 on facebook? My wife doesn't want to give them the access they want, and I don't have an account.
