Kept starting worlds until I got one that had a good starting zone. A lake close to the ocean surrounded by mountains. I dug into the base of one mountain and discovered a chasm that sliced through the interior. I'll explore that later, but I blocked it off for now then dug a stairway all the way up to the top of the mountain, where I built my starter home.

I posted an interactive map of my new world. This is just the kind of location I love.

A nice mountain, a cove, a forest nearby, an island. Great views, too. I'll be gradually expanding the house on top, both into the mountain and above, in between exploring the chasm I located.

That looks like a nice place to be. What difficulty level are you playing on?

I've started seeing a few creepers that didn't disappear when daylight hit. Now there are a few big holes not far from my house. Is there a way to re-build ice?

I started this game on peaceful just so I could explore and get the basics built without having to hide in a hole every night. Now that I have a relatively safe base with a bed I'm going to turn it back to normal before I start exploring the caves.

Creepers don't die in the daylight, only zombies and skeletons do.

Ah, I thought that they did. I've seen a few disappear when the sun comes up. They didn't burn up like the zombies and skeletons, they just vanished.

I may switch to Peaceful as well for a while. Of course I keep saying that but not actually doing it.

It's a new map. We're running a forum for the place now at www.voodootechnologies.net where I maintain the whitelist. The rest of the maps will come back once plugins are available for the official version of Minecraft. The server itself is at voodootechnologies.net.

I sometimes miss the old map. The one with the tower trap at the spawn. I had a lot of work into some projects there. Its to bad that the map generator is so old now compared to the new stuff.

Ah, memories. My little pagoda took about 3-4 in-game days to walk to. Teleportation made life so much easier.

Oddly enough, I have no idea why it was so far away. But I liked it. Had many little farms and a huge stripmined cavern located underneath where I had somehow carved out an entire 10x10 area straight down.

I think I watched an entire season of Scrubs just mining that pit.

So I gen'd up a new world in 1.3.1 and ran around tonight for awhile.

Did they have underground mines in previous versions? Villages I'd gotten used to, but finding an abandoned mine complete with mine cart tracks and chasm-crossing walkways was a surprise.
