Printers!

So, since I graduated, I won't be able to use my school's labs or printers anymore, which were usually my go-to when I needed a job done.

Now, I'm sitting on about a possible 800 pages of LSAT exams that I may want to print out, but I have no easy way of doing it anymore. I can't simply take them to Office Depot, as I imagine they'll give me shit about printing out such things.

So, I'm exploring the idea of buying a printer that I'll be able to keep for a couple of years. I know there are decent printers out there that won't fuck off in a month of use, and that I can rely on for consistent and heavy jobs, but I know very little about any particular brand or whatnot.

Somebody has recommended the Brother HL-2270DW to me, and that seems fair enough. However, I never shop for printers, so I don't even have a very good idea of how much I should be looking to spend.

Advice? Suggestions?

Buy whatever printer has the cheapest ink. That's really all that matters anymore.

At our stores we use several Brother printers very similar to the one you linked. We've been phasing out the Lexmark printers we used to use because they have been very unreliable and have much more expensive toner. You would probably be fine with that Brother as long as you don't need color printing.

I really despise buying printers and ink. Since my last one went belly-up, I've vowed not to buy another for a long time.

With that said, good luck.

Printers are the worst.

We have an HP, though, and it's been fine I guess. Ink is the beast, of course, as has already been mentioned.

By your experience, about how many pages per cartridge do you get? How long have you had it?

I have a Brother printer - I used the "starter" ink drum for over a year and a half before I had to buy a real one. I've never once had an issue with it.

I've had it 6 months, no idea how many pages it will do.

Bought that printer for my boss so he could have a private printer on his desk. He loves it. Haven't need a new cartridge yet, but they I do think it is 1000-1500 pages per cartridge.

I've heard lots of recommendations for that Brother 2270DW. I've not used it myself, but if I was to buy a new printer, it'd be that.

Buy the printer with that comes with the most ink for the cheapest amount you can get.
Then buy a new printer when the ink goes out.
