[Kickstarter] Ukiyo-e Heroes

Some of you might have already seen this in the Awesome thread. Video game characters done in the style of traditional Japanese woodblock prints. The kickstarter opened about 2 hours ago and is already fully funded.

Only Rickshaw cart is available as a handmade woodblock print. The rest are giclee prints.

So, they don't need the licences?

They're not explicitly named as such and there is sufficient difference, so there may be leeway in parody. Staff at Nintendo of America seem to be aware but there's no guarantee the Copyright Hammer won't fall on them.

...these are completely and unexpectedly awesome. I love the Star Fox one.

EDIT: Oof. They are kind of expensive!

Well the authentic woodblock prints are $135 a pop. The Giclees are a slightly more reasonable $40 and are much larger 12x17 vs 7x9.
