Problem with Hipster bars as a karaoke fan is they think they're too cool for it.

So you get these fucking hipsters who like, dig roots in the good booths and just sit there taking up space, glaring at the people actually having fun, and nursing their fucking PBR.

Harms the mood, and makes it hard to hit critical mass.

I was actually thinking about just that today.

I wanted to do a documentary about people like, well, me, or the twins last night, or the others I've met, the ones who walk in the middle of all that off-key butchery and belt it out like pros.

Why are they there and not selling out concerts? How does a woman who can outsing Etta James wind up singing karaoke in a dive bar and not in a studio? Why do they do it, where did they come from, their stories ...

I think it could be a fascinating piece.

My money- karaoke is safe. Why aren't they performers? Probably a fear somewhere along the way. It gives them an image and an outlet and doesn't require a huge leap of faith.

It also isn't original music- my ex is bomb at karaoke but terrified to play her music for anyone she doesn't know.

I have also met a number who were ex-musicians. The twins used to have a band, but quit because they didn't like the touring life. One of the country girls at my favorite spot has attempted to go pro, and has one of those American Idol moms.

Me, I was in church choir, and I tried a couple times to start up a band with a friend of mine in HS who I'd go busking with at acting conventions. I was just never much of a song writer so going beyond acoustic covers of Bush songs always wound up a false start.

Goddamn J. Just kiss people. Fondle them. You don't have to necessarily plow them on the first night...but get them interested in BEING plowed, at least.

Make moves. There's nothing gentlemanly about making a woman feel like you don't want her if she wants you to make a move. Just sayin'.

I had to get one to prevent anyone parking the Hulks and Horrors page, and since I had it, I figured I'd start adding people. I hardly actually read my feed, but it's nice to have for connecting with people.

Facebook is awful. I just wish everyone would move over to Google+.

They've really screwed up their events system. Now it's a complete mess, which is a pain as most of my friends use it to organize parties, Game Nights, etc.

Nope, I'm happy for Facebook the way it is. That's where I keep my dumb friends. I don't want my G+ littered with pictures of their damn kids and jesus praising.
