I learned a lesson yesterday. If your liege wants you to give up your title, even if she's in the middle of a decades long war plinking away at heretic Norwegians and seems to not have any troops to spare fucking you over, she WILL have the money to hire mercenaries equaling about 30 times the troops you can raise, just so you can't hire any mercenaries to help. And your brother will say, "Um, I don't think I'll join you in this war. Sorry."

Somehow, it's not game over. I had some relative somewhere down the line in central Europe. Sow your seed and send your daughters far and wide. Just in case.

I played a game yesterday and thought nothing interesting happened.

Aside from my son marrying his teacher. She was about 25 years older. As a old chick, they had a bunch of kids too. She had all kind of bad ass stats.

Nubia is still a bitch to play as. I still don't get how mercenaries aren't a possibility. And how the hell does one get ships?

So... I was Castille. Out of nowhere my Brother in Leon declares war on me. So I call in my allies, only one arrives, but thats enough. I kicking his ass all over. SUDDENLY the dude that was my ally joins my brother. And then everyone else joins him. And he kicks my ass cause I can't call on anyone anymore cause he has them all now.

I don't get it. Why did Navarro suddenly turn on me (I'd just helped him and he liked me a lot and we were winning)? And what options did I have? Everyone was "you can't call on them to help" because I already had. So... I got screwed by asking first or something? Cause I couldn't ask HIS allies to join my side like he apparently did to me.

So confusing and frustrating to be easily winning and suddenly losing horribly for no real apparent reason.

Edit: Not to mention he was getting just bulldozed by the Muslims while he was fucking with me, so I lose and take over for him... and hes fucked theres like 8000 angry Muslims everywhere and hes lost pretty much all his territory to them so basically I'm screwed again.

Is there anyway to create a kingdom? I've been doing alright with Rostov, but the lack of any control over my dirty vassals can be annoying at times. I was hoping I could get some sort of claim to some kingdom or something, but I haven't a clue how to do it or if it can even be done.

You need to own enough De Jur counties of a Kingdom then you can create or usurp the title. I don't think it would give you that much more control but I have not been able to do it yet so I can't say for sure.

It's not that difficult to create Kingdoms... especially now that the new patch introduced a few new kingdoms and empires.

Use the Title finder (bottom right) to find the Kingdom of Rus, figure out what duchies you need to acquire to get +50% of that title and then just create the Kingdom.

Good to know. Though I'm not sure I'm close to pulling off any kingdom and I'm wary to annoy my neighbors with the massive Cuminate kingdom always giving me the evil eye.

Yeah, the mongol horde's going to be giving you trouble over there, but no less than Poland or Hungary. Also, if you don't form the Kingdom, someone else will at some point, and that'll be another issue.

Gah! Things were going so well. I'd founded the Kingdom of Rus under Vladimir the Cruel and was expanding its borders, doing incredibly well. Then Vladimir died rather suddenly. His son tried to gather all the pieces back together, was doing fairly well and then took a blow to the head that made him incompetent. After that it was a downward spiral that took turn for the hopeless when we ran out of funds and the mercanary company we had hired turned on us and began crushing all resistance. He finally died, but it was too much for his 4 year old son to hold together when the Muslims of Cuminate decided to declare a holy war our shattered nation and I resigned.

What a great and horrible game.

What I really love about this game is that it lets you create your own story very naturally and organically.

I've been seeing this new trend of "story making" in games lately, and I really like it. Maybe this will be a new direction a lot of games will be taking in the future, sort of remove the writers, and just create a game that lets you weave your own story through the game play.

I know it's happening in Day-Z as well.

The stories that are created are the best part of this game for sure. It's the same reason people love Dwarf Fortress so much. Boatmurdered is one of the best things I've ever read on the internet.

Games that let you weave your own stories in such a manner (this, Dwarf Fortress, and several others) are often among my favorite games. It's just so much fun to share your experiences with others.

CK2 is especially good at it since people tend to act fairly realistically. DF's greatness was the sheer madness and randomness of everything. In CK2 I have my wife plotting to kill a threat to the inheritance of her children (even if it happened to be another of my own kids).

Plus people get pissed off when you imprison their mistresses and cut off their heads after a year in the oubliette. Half-brothers am I right?! My other half-brother loved me till the day I lopped off his head. Islam and multiple wives ends up in some crazy dynasty interactions.

Wait can you have establish mistresses or know about other people's mistress?

I didn't think to kill my wife to take her kids. Although I think her dad popped out another boy or someshit. I tried to kill him instead so she'd get the title.
