Half in the Bag

Not sure why these guys don't have their own thread yet. They are amazing.

http://redlettermedia.com/half-in-th...boy/#more-2014

Here's their latest episode. Oh man do they tear Adam Sandler a new one in this episode.

Yes! Off to watch. I never get tired of listening to them talk about movies.

I was going to post that in the Vampire Hunter thread.

I do love these reviews. If you thought they ripped Adam Sandler in this one, you should checkout the review of Jack and Jill (which they reference a lot in this review). They basically call it a ponzi scheme rather than a movie. It's brutal.

By the way, these reviews are done by the same people that created the "Mr. Plinkett Reviews" of the Star Wars prequels and Star Trek movies. They are much more technical and well thought out than your average review. They often are able to describe with much more clarity what I only 'feel' when watching a movie. A lot of times after watching these reviews I think "so that's why the movie felt like [x]".

Already seen the Jack and Jill one. That one is pure pwnage. For others who haven't and are to lazy to dig around for it here it is:

Bring the popcorn. Don't forget the Dunkin Donuts and Pepto Bismol.

Does anyone else find Half in the Bag a little boring? Their presentation style needs some work. I'm in love with Plinkett, but something about Half in the Bag has me browsing reddit pretty quickly while i listen to them with half an ear.

For me it varies greatly from episode to episode. If they are talking about a movie I find interesting then I can just sit there and be entertained, but others are pretty dry. The Plinkett reviews have the benefit of always being about a movie I find interesting, and also it is constantly showing clips and animations instead of the person talking (which is Mike from Half in the Bag, the dark haired one).

I almost died when he started talking about his sexual attraction to Kirsten Dunst.

After 2 episodes they make me want to slit my wrists. I feel like listening to a 30 minute movie review that rags on movie pacing is just silly to the extreme. They have some minor snark worth saying but Jesus, cut it down, 5 minutes an episode guys. It is like if Zero Punctuation was 6 times as long but with the same number of words.

That's too bad you don't like them. They are a bit of an acquired taste and some of their reviews drag but they are awesome producers and have excellent comedic timing. I think you should give them a chance still.

It was good!

I love their sense of humor, not just when they're talking about films, but the visual comedy. And "I'll call your phone and see if it's around here somewhere!"

Their discussion of the logic of events vs emotional logic was insightful. That is how it works for most people? I would guess? But everyone seems to draw their line in a slightly different place, so I don't know if there's an objective way to use that argument.

Plinkett did a commentary track to Star Wars (A New Hope).

I will probably watch this tomorrow. I'm not sure if I'll dig this format as much as his normal video reviews, since a huge part of the humor was the bizarre editing and visual gags. Still, I really like what these guys have to say about movies, so I'll definitely give it a shot.

Like Rifftrax, I don't like the format as much as an episode of MST3K, but I get the legal implications. They've proven themselves worth the $2! I'll give it a go.

Eh, the only version of the original Star Wars I have, without the special edition add-ons, is on VHS...

EDIT: Oh wait, it's for the old DVD release with the special edition shit? Well, I have that.
