No issues for me actually. Only problem I had was when you are in the garbage dump type area and I could not find my way out for the life of me, but that was a graphics and my eyes issue.

Beyond the above the only other issue I had was I never got Bahamut Zero.

This is how I played it too. It worked fine for me (except for the fact that I was a wimp and couldn't actually kill the final boss and gave up trying to breed gold chocobos...) and looked amazing compared to the PS1 version.

I'd be down for a digital reissue, esp. if you can patch in hi-res textures.

I think there were some problems with modern video cards like the TNT when it was released but that was later fixed. Probably not a game that holds up anymore but good for those who want to own it again.

I thought this announcement was weird and then remembered that it has been on PC for about a decade and a half.

It was released on the PC back in 1999-ish. But it was never available through a (legitimate) digital service before.

If they tighten up the port a bit, add proper support for the 360 controller, things like that... then I might be interested.

"Character Booster" sounds like bullshit though. Who builds in a win button?
As someone who hates the fuck out of the grind in JRPGs, this feature actually does make me reconsider acquiring it.

It's not the most elegant solution though, I'll confess.

I played FFVII and hated it, what do I win?

And whatever happened to the Unreal engine FFVII remake?

The PC version of FF7 was a monstrous piece of shit. As said the modders have been hard at work on it, don't how far they've gotten because at the end of the day, it's still FF7. While in itself not awful, in retrospect it's the blueprint to the downfall of the entire franchise.

Well at least the cut scenes were a bareable length back then.

These days I get the feeling that the legacy of FF7 is a lot more important and prominent than the actual game itself. I wonder If it'll become like a generational thing, like the moon landing or star wars.

I dunno, I'm a few hours into FF6 and I'm not particularly impressed. I guess it must pick up but... I did love Chronotrigger which seems built on a similar template.

FF6 does something rather amazing in the middle of the game. But no it's no Chrono Trigger. FF6 suffers from too many characters really.

I had just remembered this video existed recently and this thread became the place for me to share it I'm glad people are passionate about this game. Personally, I never could get into it, but then I've struggled with jRPGs in general for most of my life. The prior PC release was the version I spent the most amount of time with, but still never managed to make it halfway through without giving up.

There's a good chance I'll be picking this one up as well

What is with these news headers lately? "Game You Already Played Coming to System You Already Own" "Blizzard to Legitimate Customers: Get In Line and Wait!" I feel like I'm back on Evil Avatar.

The funny thing about that video is when he said "The graphics haven't aged well."

The graphics sucked when it was new. Sure the cutscenes were OKish, and the in combat graphics were decent for their time, but the character models were just as awful then as they are now, and the backgrounds were often so heavily pixelated that you couldn't even make sense of what the fuck you were looking at.

And the PC version was a disaster. It looked even worse scaled up to even the lower PC resolutions of the time, and the MIDI card music was so bad you actually found yourself turning it off just so you wouldn't have to hear it.

Music so bad you mute it. In a Square game.

I may not think much of their game design but Square's always nailed their soundtracks, but the PC version of FF7's is still one of the worst things I have ever heard.

Frankly, while I liked some of the game's ideas (the materia system is an all-time favorite), it didn't just not age well, it was never that good to begin with. FF6 was better.
