by "we" you mean "I" apparently.

So you complain about it not being a "new game" and that it's a cash-in...yet it doesn't resemble the old games at all.

and yes, how lame of them to put, in a game about alien invaders, truly alien looking enemies.

Agreed. I loved Shadowrun. I am still waiting on info on how much new they bring to the FPS, but I am optomistic about it.

No there are others in this thread that don't like the new direction either, not just "I". "We" have voiced our dislike. Just go skim through the thread, you'll see em.

As far as the rest of this response, why bother? My point was that they took the name and used it, and made something almost completely different. Like Shadowrun. I don't like that, others do. We have a difference of opinion. Whoop-dee-doo.

And those don't look like aliens to me, more like inter-dimensional invaders. Kinda like a cubicle universe or something.

I also had an idea about how these aliens don't look like traditional aliens, because they are the first invasion X Com dealt with. I bet we'll see Sectoids in a later sequel. One where the game is set in the future. Well, thats what makes sense to me anyways.

Anyways, I heard a great piece of advice today: get over it, get on with it. I am gonna do that, I stated my displeasure, and now I'm done. And as for the rest of you who don't like how I think about this game? I suggest you do the same. Get over over it, and get on with your life.

Ya, Shadowrun turned out way way awesome compared to what I originally thought it would.

Wolfie. It really doesn't matter. That's correct. If you don't like it you don't like it. No harm in that. No matter how much someone wants me to love Star Wars 2009. IT AINT HAPPENING:

Yep! It's like with the Transformers movies. Almost everyone I know, including my wife loves them. I don't. On the flip side I seem to be the only Lord of the Rings fan amongst my family and friends.

Anyways, something good came out of my nit-picking... well for me anyways. This X Com might not interest me, but I'll wait around until they make the modern day X-Com. That running in an FPS engine sounds awesome.

Just to clarify since I "invoked" Shadowrun, my beef with the game isn't the typical viewpoint that it sucks as a game or is somehow "unworthy" to hold the IP's name. My issue was with one main fact: The general disinterest and little or no real buzz for the title outside of dedicated gaming communities doomed the IP to be placed back in the queue, possibly never to return.

They could make 12 sequels to Shadowrun all in the same vein and I wouldn't have cared in the slightest, if it meant I had a chance to get the PnP-based, RPG experience I had been hoping for since Shadowrun on the Genesis and SNES. Both of those games were fantastic and I figured, for all these years, that it was only a matter of time until they made a modern game somewhat based on the PnP game, or either of those versions. I don't hate Shadowrun for 360/PC, I'm simply disappointed at how things played out.

I was a frothing fanboy against that game for a while, but I have since realized the error in hating it simply because it isn't what I wanted. So while my gut reaction was to be dismissive of X-com because it wasn't what I wanted, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt until I get a chance to play it myself. I spoke of the similarity to Shadowrun mostly for the same reason I was disappointed in the last version of that game; If this game is good, and does well, maybe we will get another traditional X-com game. If this flops and sucks it up all over the goddamn place, we never will.

For some reason, I actually understood that when it was posted. I think that was just a very good example of change that you posted and people took it for what it was.

This thread is a big much ado about nothing for me now. We got a right proper XCOM on the way this fall. Crisis averted. I just wished I had known that before I lost my temper. Oh well.
