Moon
I watched Moon the other day and I definitely enjoyed it. There aren't many space movies out there that don't envolve aliens, guns and military. Don't get me wrong, I love a good alien smack down but movies like 2001 and Solarius are not so common.
Anyways, Moon was good and it was low budget. The minature work was excellent and will definitely watch it again. Thoughts?

I loved it.
Great acting, fantastic direction, and a really well paced story. This year's been pretty bad on movies, but I felt very, very satisfied with this. Also, the effects are incredible with that kind of budget.

![]() Yes, yes, Sunshine was a very well made movie, but the concept itself was so idiotic and outlandish that you can't look past it to enjoy it. Seriously its just The Core turned inside out. Definitely not deserving of the cast/crew. And then the complete 180 halfway through the story really ruined any shot it had. Horrible script.

Moon was one of the best movies I've seen in years, and it is light years better than Sunshine. I cannot wait to see what Duncan does in the future.

Is Moon out now? It was on my Netflix queue for future release, but haven't heard anything about it released yet.

I believe it gets released in the U.S. in January. It has dropped in the U.K. already.

On Friday's Craig Ferguson Show, Dax Shepard was talking about Moon, how he thought Sam Rockwell should have been nominated for an Oscar.
I just saw Moon this weekend. Liked it, though seeing Sam Rockwell in a scifi movie made me think Hitchhiker's Guide. That and he looks a little like Joel Hodgson, in that jumpsuit. ![]()

Yep. Amazing acting by Rockwell. He definitely deserved an Oscar nod.

This is now in the instant watch queue.
I loved it, pretty much every second of it. If you're into sci-fi and you don't watch it, shame on you. |

I thought Moon was very good, but I just couldn't quite get over the presence of full gravity inside the base, and parts of the design of the base didn't make much sense to me either.
Still, overall a good flick. |

Am I the only one that found the pacing to be... slow. I honestly got bored at points, especially when they first both meet each other and decided to pretty much just ignore that the other exists for about 20 minutes.
If I was in that situation, I'd bloody well want to know why the other guy was there, where'd he'd come from, not concern myself with my minuture scale model.

Ignoring each other for 20 minutes is an eye-blink and could easily be explained by a psychological assessment process that favored non-confrontational personalities. After all, if you're going to invest in cloning on that scale and the costs of moving that much mass to the Moon you're probably going to be very, very selective when picking your stock. ...and they still didn't get exactly what they needed, which I think is one of the points the story was trying to make. A static situation like that is going to last only so long before entropy has its say.

I really liked that part. I'm glad they didn't go with the cliche "Ohmigod! You're me!" "No, you're me!" reaction. Trying to just avoid the issue because the implications are so devastatig seems like a reasonable possibility.
Keep in mind that newSam had some time while old-Sam was unconcsious to get over his initial panic. OldSam already believed he was seeing things and probably thought newSam was a hallucination for a while and would go away if ignored. |
