Blue Shield Alliance Is Out! And We're Giving Away Copies
It's a proud day here at CoG. Our buddy Bapenguin has realized one of his childhood dreams and released his own video game. SCHAR: Blue Shield Alliance is a twin stick co-op shooter you can download right now on the Xbox Live Indie Marketplace. But that's not all. We're giving away three copies of the game. Just tell us about your fondest co-op memory. Winners will be randomly chosen. |
Cool, well done. I love those old fashion type of arcade twin sticks. I may have to check this out one day.
This isn't me entering the contest! My fondest co-op memory was actually probably Resident Evil 4. Playing with a friend who would chicken out and abandoned me to horrible deaths 50% of the time. I recall when the villagers were busting down walls and we ran to the roofs as they swarmed up after us, both holding them off, ammo running low, I turn to him to say something and find he is high tailing it across the roofs and I'm surrounded. "Get back here you bastard!" |
COOL! Congrats, bappy!

Congrats, the video looks great.
I'd have to say my favourite co-op experience was playing throught Halo 3 Legendary with 3 friend (who i knew irl). Best moment was in the final sprint in the warhogs, one of the guys jumped out of the truck and died, we just kep driving. So for the last moments of the game he only got to watch... Serves him right. 2nd best was playing with a friend i knew gears2 campaign, including the lost chapter. Its the only gears ive completed. |
Also, I'll be very disappointed if there's no mention of "beans in the burrito" anywhere in the game.

I know this is kind of mushy, but I just wanted to say that yesterday was one of the highlights of my life to be able to sit down and buy this. It's a dream I've had since I was like, 4 years old playing Atari to be involved in the creation of a real, purchasable, public video game.
Thank you bap for allowing me to help on this and helping my own dream come true. Deep down from the bottom of my heart, I truly hope any of you with even a passing interest in this enjoy your time with it. =) |
Grats Bap. You've done what many have only dreamed of.
For me, my fondest memory is when I was a kid playing Ikari Warriors on the NES. We would just play that game to death, getting our powerups and getting in the little tanks. Man, those were great, and much simpler, times. |
Does online count? If so, beating the Lich King in WoW with my old guild.
If not, probably playing through Dark Ascension with my wife. |

Wasn't there a sequel or prequel to it? |
My fondest co-op memory actually comes from my recent foray into ME3 multiplayer.
On time while playing, I happened to get dropped into a group planning a Gold mission. Random enemies (yipe), random area (double yipe). In a panic, I quickly loaded up my character (I was playing an Infiltrator) with loads of equipment and new guns, and prepared to die. A lot. It was a slaughter - for our side! We were amazingly in sync - we found an area to hold up, and held it against all comers. No one was using voice, which made it even more impressive. When I (as the Infiltrator) ran out to trigger locations, one of the other guys took over my overwatch location until I came back. When we had to gold an area for a download, we ran over and held it like a well-oiled machine. I've never had an experience like that, where a bunch of random guys just *worked* so well. |

Running around and being jackasses in Dead Rising 2 with Ghostbear. Banana Hammock buds for life, Mr. Bear. ;)
Also, well done BAP and congratulations! :) |

This is XBLA only, right? If so, I'm not entering the contest. My fondest co-op memory, though, is probably playing StarCraft against the computer with my dad over a null modem.

First off, congratulations!
For my co-op story, I'll choose the old vertical scrolling shooter Tyrian. Each player had one half of a ship that could fly and shoot independently, or they could join together to have one player fly and the other shoot a turret version of their main gun. Both modes were useful, especially on some levels that involved maneuvering through narrow places. My friend and I played it all the time after school in 6th grade or so. |
CONGRATS Bap!
My favorite co-op memory was playing Contra for hours on end with my best friend and his brother. But don't enter me in the contest, I bought this game sight unseen :) |
Congrats!!! It's awesome seeing gamers being gamers and accomplishing gamer things!
My favorite coop moment? L4D2 Friends: Okay, so we're gonna take it easy down this lane and keep an eye out for that boomer... Me: That car's got flashy lights! Friends: Mark, no. For the last fucking time. Me: Don't worry about it. I won't do anything we can't handle. Friends: Alright, get ready with that molota- ::I shoot the car and book it for the safe room:: ::Friends proceed to die:: This happened on a weekly basis. One of my friends got so mad at me (genuinely upset), he punched me in the nuts. It would get so bad that sometimes my friends would shoot the car alarms so I wouldn't get the satisfaction. Not the most cooperative of coop moments, but certainly among my fondest. |
