In Other News...June 20

- The PC version of Dishonored will have it's own unique interface, hopefully allaying fears of the dreaded shoddy port.

- Sony is taking down the Playstation Store for PS3 in Korea to comply with the recently passed "Game Industry Promotion Act" (the same act caused Blizzard to drop the real money auction house in Diablo 3 in Korea). Online play is still available, and the PS Store will remain up for the portable PSP and Vita, but no sales or registrations can go though in Korea. Which means Online Passes cannot be redeemed, rendering major features for some games useless. Sony hopes to relaunch the store later this year after assuring compliance.

- Robot Entertainment has announced that Orcs Must Die 2 will be released July 30. The PC-only sequel to one of my favorite games of 2011 adds a co-op campaign and a host of new levels, traps, spells and enemies.

- Hideo Kojima has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 5 is in development using the company's new Fox Engine. And Kojima says that we haven't seen the last of Solid Snake yet.

- Launching today on Playstation Home is No Man's Land, a free to play tactical shooter. It actually uses your Home avatar in-game.

Now there is a screaming OMG shocker. I'm still glad SS is still around though. I'm not ready to see SS go yet.

Great to hear about the Dishonoured stuff.

violent 06-20-2012 07:35 PM

More Metal Gear is always good in my book.

Vandabo 06-20-2012 07:40 PM

Good to hear about more Orcs Must Die. The first one really hit the spot there for a while.

However, what I really wish for is Defense Grid 2. Keep the same engine, and just put in some different turrets and a couple dozen maps... But that continues to be my wish.

Let him FUCKING DIE already.

Very curious what the UI looks like to begin with in Dishonored.

...Couldn't he make a ZOE game and let the Metal Gear games rest a while? I'm not against another Metal Gear game, but damn.

He's stuck in a the big developer/big publisher trap. High risk, low profit or low risk, high profit.

Oh good, because there's so many unanswered questions about Solid Snake that I can't wait to have answered.

Seriously, I enjoy Metal Gear, and I would like more Metal Gear games, but there's no reason to continue the story with Snake as a central part of it.

menage 06-21-2012 12:13 AM

I'm more interested im the platinum game than another cutscene bonanza. I don't really have time for that shit anymore.

Ghostbear 06-21-2012 12:15 AM

Forget all that other Crap. Orcs Must Die 2 is the real excitement.

scythe 06-21-2012 05:00 AM

Kojima has a history of misleading his fans when it comes to who's starring in the next Metal Gear. I'm stoked for #5, but what he said could mean anything from "he's the lead character" to "his name is mentioned."

It probably won't come out for like 5 more years anyway, so there's no real point in worrying about it.

REVENGEANCE!

Lame

I adored Dark Messiah and have been waiting forever for something more from the Arkane guys so I am day one with Dishonored.

He is making a new ZOE game, he's already said as much. I'm glad they're doing both, MGS is by far one of my favorite series, but ZOE deserves to be revived as well.

Pretty much this.

There is a criminal death of mecha games so the more the better.

And I hope it comes out for PC!

Ink Asylum 06-21-2012 07:34 AM

Orcs Must Die! 2 in little over a month. Sweet.

MachEnergy 06-21-2012 08:07 AM

I love him, but I've had my fill of Old Snake. Hopefully they remove FoxDie's aging effects in this new one. That, or interject (yet another) story earlier in the existing timeline. Trying to remember how everything ended in MGS4.....bit fuzzy actually. It's been a LONG time. Does anybody know if they ever added trophy support? Perhaps a replay is in order.

No trophies, but if you haven't done it, download the ingame podcasts (done by Ryan Payton and a few others from KP at the time) and listen to them during the game at the points they say they're for. They give some really cool insight into the game's design.
