[GIVEAWAY] ESET NOD32 Antivirus

Sure, this won't be the most exciting giveaway ever, but it can help secure your PC. The company I work for partners with ESET, makers of the NOD32 Antivirus product. They've given me 10 one-year subscriptions to their NOD32 Antivirus product to give away here at Colony of Gamers. All you have to do to enter is make a post about the Antivirus you currently use and we'll draw ten winners at 8 PM Central on Sunday, May 13th.

Jackel 05-08-2012 03:00 PM

I'm currently using Vipre. I used to use NOD32, but I decided I'd rather not pay.

CappinCanuck 05-08-2012 03:07 PM

NOD32! But my sub ran out 2 years ago and I can't be affording to plunk down on such luxuries :o

Wilkz07 05-08-2012 03:10 PM

Previously used Eset... now using Bitdefender Plus 2012.

biosc1 05-08-2012 03:18 PM

I was using Avast, but they annoyed the heck out of me with their stupid renewal notices. Then I tried Webroot which seems nice, but I let the trial expire. Now I have nothing...it's like going commando with a kilt.

Wackman3000 05-08-2012 03:32 PM

My antivirus is common sense...

I guess it wouldn't hurt to have a real antivirus along with it.

Handmade.Mercury 05-08-2012 03:36 PM

I use AVG Free because subscriptions stink!

Lekon 05-08-2012 03:52 PM

AVG Free here as well.

Suave Peanut 05-08-2012 04:02 PM

I use Microsoft Security Essentials on my PC and nothing on my notebook, because Linux.

Laughing Penguin 05-08-2012 04:04 PM

I use AVAST here. I had the pro version for a year, but lack the disposable income to renew right now, and naturally in the day between when the pro version went inactive and I switched back to the free version I caught a browser-redirect trojan, resulting in a couple of days spent running various virus killers.

So, yeah... I could a new pro anti-virus. =]

violent 05-08-2012 04:14 PM

Microsoft Security Essentials! The cold sore is unrelated I think.

menage 05-08-2012 04:18 PM

Avast. Because it got some good rankings and it's free.

Xerxes 05-08-2012 04:20 PM

I use VirusScan Enterprise 8.8 given to me by my job. Can't recall my last virus although I'm not looking around the gutter for porn, wares, and what not.

shunoshi 05-08-2012 05:24 PM

Used to use AVG Free, but currently using MS Security Essentials. Wouldn't mind a beefy one for a year for free. :D

Kelegacy 05-08-2012 05:26 PM

AVG is what I use. Not the free edition. I guess it's worked fine thus far.

Rune_74 05-08-2012 05:37 PM

Fsecure here it comes free with my internet.

Pigeon 05-08-2012 05:48 PM

Superantispyware and malware bytes

roboninja 05-08-2012 05:57 PM

Currently using Avast Free but have heard great things about NOD32. Would love to try it.

PathMaster 05-08-2012 06:48 PM

Surprised by the variety so far. I use Avast, but install MSE on machines for people.

Purple Santa 05-08-2012 07:09 PM

Non-Mac machine MSE. I've found that to be good enough. I've tried others but they end up being a pain in the chip.

Zigballistic 05-08-2012 09:34 PM

AVG free. That and common sense internet habits keep me out of trouble most of the time.

Abyssion 05-08-2012 10:15 PM

I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials, I think it works... or I never do things that will give my laptop/desktop viruses...(that I know of)

CES 05-09-2012 01:54 AM

The only real thing that annoys me about Avast is it can be overzealous and difficult to set an exemption for the file scanner to dodge a false positive.

AniAko 05-09-2012 07:17 AM

Been using Avira for years, minimal ads, never really had a reason to change

bapenguin 05-09-2012 07:20 AM

Not entering the contest - just want to say great job on getting this Curt!

fitbabits 05-09-2012 07:22 AM

I was a believer in AVG Free for a very long time, but it started to get more resource-hungry, so I tried Microsoft Security Essentials and it works like a charm.

Also not entering the contest...

muddi900 05-09-2012 07:25 AM

Microsoft Security Essentials!

RandoM51 05-09-2012 10:28 AM

I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials lately. The product wasn't that solid to begin with but it has gotten much better and I've found it the least intrusive of those I've used.

wyeast 05-09-2012 12:01 PM

Used to use Webroot at home (helped in large part by picking up a HUGE discount on a bulk set @ Amazon), but switched to MSE when the subs finally ran out. We use ESET at work, tho'. :)

Clark 05-09-2012 12:05 PM

AVG. It is a resource hog.

danhoo 05-09-2012 11:38 PM

On Windows, Avira. On Mac ClamXAv. On Linux, nothing.

AntonThaGreat 05-10-2012 12:14 AM

Please use Microsoft Security Essentials! It's by far the best and most unobtrusive anti-virus/malware software out there that your money can buy... and it's free.

If any of you are running anything like AVG, McAfee or Norton, do yourself a favor and immediately uninstall it and install MSE. You're user experience will shoot through the roof, things will open faster, things will download faster and your games will see a boost in FPS.

I used to run without any Anti-virus solution for most of my PC using history, until MSE came along, because everything else out there was such crap and made gaming and simple things like browsing the internet unbearable on a sub-optimal PC.

NOD32 is great btw, but in my experience MSE is just better.

ElektroDragon 05-10-2012 03:04 PM

I use Microsoft Security Essentials. I've tried all the others, but I only trust MS to not do something weird to my OS that affects stability.

More fool me, I guess. :D I say that because a few weeks ago I was hit by a NASTY bit of malware that totally disable my Firewall and security services, and hijacked my HOSTS file. Even though MSE was not affected, it DID NOT FIND A DAMN THING WRONG! Had to use Spybot Search & Destroy.

So yeah, bring on the ESET, I could use a win!

PathMaster 05-11-2012 08:44 AM

Malware and rootkits are very interesting and often times missed totally my AV solutions.

Indeed, my base installation includes Avira, Malware-Bytes (ran on demand), and I have a copy of HiJack-this always handy. I don't always prevent infections, but I typically manage to clean them without a wipe *knocks on wood*

PathMaster 05-11-2012 09:02 AM

Avast and MBAM (free), and occasion checking with Combofix.

soqua 05-13-2012 03:00 AM

I used AVG but it became too bloated.
I tried Microsoft's AV program but it stopped working once it hit a file in /windows32.
Maybe the third AV program is the charm.

Xerxes 05-13-2012 03:26 AM

At work we have something called Forefront client that we install on select users computers. I was tempted to to install it on my home computer and test it out. But VirusScan does the job. Memory hog at times.

Mot Wakorb 05-14-2012 08:14 AM

And our winners are (selected at random by random.org):

AntonThaGreat
shunoshi (Thank PathMaster, he declined the victory)!
Wilkz07

menage
soqua
kalegacy
CES
ElektroDragon

I am prepping the PDFs for you today and will have them out this evening via PM to download. Congratulations to our winners!

(All numbers picked completely at random by random.org. Yes, staff were eligible to win, as this was a giveaway facilitated not by CoG but by a vendor of the company that I work for.)

Narradisall 05-14-2012 08:36 AM

I use AVG free as well. Don't count me in for the competition though, as my work VPN won't work with that new anti-virus, so I can't use it anyway.

Jackel 05-14-2012 09:36 AM

Awesome. Thanks guys!

Xerxes 05-14-2012 09:40 AM

Congrats guys..

AntonThaGreat 05-14-2012 09:02 PM

Well, I'm one of those that won. I'm going to have to find a place to use it now. Thanks, as Eletro said, MSE is not fool proof.

shunoshi 05-14-2012 10:51 PM

Awesome! Whoa, I won something on this site, but only due to another member declining his victory. That seems somewhat appropriate. :p

Thanks Mot Wakorb, and thanks PathMaster. Hopefully my next year will be virus-free. :D

PathMaster 05-15-2012 07:52 AM

Congrats to the original winners and to shunoshi as well.

soqua 05-16-2012 01:29 PM

Thanks for running the contest.

CappinCanuck 05-17-2012 10:41 AM

menage 05-17-2012 12:04 PM
