Fallout 1 Free on GOG For Limited Time
To help celebrate their revamp, GOG.com if offering a full version of the original Fallout for free for the next 48 hours. The game also includes a variety of extras such as wallpapers, avatars, manuals and a 200MB Fallout bible.
This Fallout is quite different in many ways from the more recent Fallout 3 & Fallout New Vegas many gamers are familiar with, but you'll see why so many people were ecstatic when the series was brought back to life a few years back. Sources - GOG.com; Joystiq |
Oh, picked up.
Did not have it on Steam, but now I have it on GoG!
It's a great game but the interface hasn't aged well. I still replay it occasionally but it's a labor of love. Still definitely worth picking up for free obviously.
Alright, you fuckers got me. I have never played a Fallout game, but free is an excellent price for almost anything.
I've been told that the versions of Fallout on GoG are inferior. But can't go wrong for a free trial.
Aww. That's all?
I own it already. Also the GOG.com edition of it is broken. |

I grabbed the authorization even though I bought it on Steam bundled with the other two a few weeks ago. Now if only I had the time to play more than half an hour in......
Eh, nice to have access to the extras, I suppose.
I've never noticed the gog version being broken. I played through it just fine.
Yeah. . . good luck with that guys. The UI makes it really, really hard to play. I loved this so much when I was 10 y/o though.
They got me to create an account. Mission accomplished for them, I imagine.
I realize the whole point is to get people who've never used the site in, but still a bit bummed I don't get a free game since I've bought Fallout from them already.
And there's nothing broken with it as far as I could ever tell. |

I eventually just got fed up and downloaded it from a torrent because I couldn't seem to fix the font issue any other way than just starting from scratch with a US install and US patches. |
Heh, I missed this thread somehow and posted about it in the GoG thread.
Either way, free is a great price for a great game, even if I prefer the second Fallout. |
Can't argue with free and I love GOG.com :). But like Gorvi I have it already with Steam and I also have the CD too. So yes I did add it to my GOG.com library but also like Gorvi when will I have time to play it. Too many good damn games to play on the PC.

Started playing it a bit tonight. It's actually a bit more modern than I was imagining, although still pretty ancient, of course. It actually gave me a bit of nostalgic chills for Fallout 3, silly as that may seem. :p Mostly, I wish I had played this game when it was new!
I just picked it up as well, despite having recently gotten it on Steam as well as owning it on CD-ROM. This way, my spare copy has a backup copy.
