Prompted by our differences in that Wisconsin thread, I began to think about the first Difference between us, the reason we seem to clash so commonly on issues of P & R: you are a lawyer, and I — if I had to pick a word for myself, disregarding ability or achievement and going by the classic definition — I am a poet. Our meeting could set the stage for many jokes, and we might have a hard time understanding one another, speaking entirely different tongues; but that does not stop me from enjoying the back and forth immensely or from appreciating your obvious intellect and erudition. I tip my hat to you, sir: I learn from every disagreement.
