Well, first something not new. FFXI had it's April Version Update last night, and yeah, was that ever broken. I tried, on and off, from 5 until 11 to get the update to run, but never had any success. You'd think that after 7 years they'd have this shit sorted out, and for a while it really wasn't that bad to get updates to run day of. And of course, I got the whole thing to run and it was done in 40 minutes this morning. I didn't get a chance to log on and do anything really, just to Retrace...

So, Black Mage was my first real job in FFXI. It's the job I started out as when I first entered the world of Vana'diel in nothing but my Tarutaru RSE equipped with an Onion Staff. I took the job to 75 back in a time when parties still sought after Black Mages and the Skillchain/Magic Burst style of leveling was all the rage. Back then 6k xp an hour was godly, we mostly got by with 4-5k an hour and we liked it!

I decided last night that when I can't get a party to try to get more merits and boost stats, I'm going to do quests. I've done a ton of quests in FFXI, probably close to 200, and I know I've got a lot more that I can do. I've barely even touched ToAU quests, for example.

So after an hour of LFP last night with no luck (I rewrote all my BLM macros, go me) I picked a quest to do that I'd been meaning to get done for a looooong feakin' time: the Crawlers Nest Map quest. The quest...

I'm starting a dangerous trend here, this is the second day in a row that I'm actually posting something here.

Gaming last night was.... non-existant pretty much. I was tired as hell, so FFXI was out, so in its place I just played a bit of Persona 3. And fell asleep about 45 minutes later on the couch. Bleh. That's a problem I always have with RPGs in general: if I'm tired, I'm probably going to fall asleep playing them. Not that they're not engaging, but there's enough passive...

So, I was thinking this morning that I really missed my Back To The Dunes thread back on EvAv. Even though I was posting only for myself, it was nice to just post what was in my head and to chronicle (back then) my little path leveling Scholar from 1 to 75, then a bit on leveling Beastmaster from 60ish to 75.

Well, now I'm actually playing FFXI consistantly again and I figured that instead of posting some thread that I'd post in every day, I may as well use the CoG Blogging tool...
