For a while it seemed like my home would never really be mentioned much aside from occasional oblique references to 'the troubles' or certain doe eyed IRA killers but recently I've noticed two references to Northern Ireland in popular media.

A lot of our fears and aversions can be traced back to a certain point or event in our lives.

I can pretty much pinpoint exactly where my fear of spiders came from. When I was 4 and first becoming a lot more aware of Christmas, my mum told me that in the cupboard in the stairs, where they hid all of our presents, was a giant spider that would gobble me up if I went in there.
