This series is aimed to provide a tiny bit of insight into the mind and habits of Japanese gamers. Although I'm sure most will be pretty dry, I hope to occasionally surprise some of you .

In part one I'm talking with a male high school student, Hiroki.

Me: So what did you do on the weekend?
Hiroki: I played Mario Kart for 4 hours.
Me: Oh yeah? Mario Kart Wii?
Hiroki: No, on the Gamecube. I don't have a Wii *looks disappointed*.
Me: Don't...

Something About Japan - Loose Socks

Some of you might have heard of this before: the fashion of school girls wearing surprisingly bulky loose white socks with their school uniforms (often with a super short skirt!). Well you might not be aware, that to keep the socks in their fashionably correct place, a special adhesive called sock glue* is needed.

Anyway, I had heard of this sock glue before but today, for the first time, I got to witness the application process in person! On the train, a young school girl, as casual...
