So things are going fairly well. I have been making my word counts so far and hope that I will be able to jump ahead this weekend. Currently I sit at 8,642 words. I have two concerns with my novel though. First, I wonder about my direction. I have places I want to get to, but spanning the gaps between these ideas is getting complicated. A lot of the time I find myself hard pressed to actually find something coherent to do it and other times, I wonder if what I feel coherently spans these gaps...

Setup: Major Williams is a stranger in the town, for some unknown reason. Jimmy is the bartender. Tim is a regular who is just sitting in the corner watching. Bull is a large, thin man who was reported as unusually strong. Williams offered to pay for Bulls drinks if he would sit and talk. Setting is somewhere between 1958 and 1965 (big theme being during the Cold War), but I haven't settled on an exact year yet.

So it is about to begin. It is an interestin feeling. I wish I had decided to do it a few weeks ago. I would have planned more. I feel like I am still trying to feel out my writing style. On top of that I have a bunch of character that I need to name tonight so I can start writing tomorrow.

As for the writing itself, I am going to try to write for most of tomorrow and see how far I get. my biggest fear is finishing it and not having nearly enough words.
