Done 'Updating' My Fightstick
I ordered some new parts for my Tournament Edition Fightstick a little bit back, and they just came and have been installed. It was an insanely easy process, too.
Originally I was going to put some original artwork in there, but I ran into problems. With the lami-label, I screwed up the "sticker" twice--once by messing up a cut and once by creasing the laminate. Then I found a place where I could order a plexi shield customized for the stick, and made just a regular printout to place in there. Unfortunately the edges looked frayed after cutting them (should have used a photo paper I suppose), and I decided to save $20 by not ordering the shield and just stick with the stock art.
I still wanted to change the button colors (for cosmetic reasons) and switch out the ball top for a bat top, and the square gate for an octagonal one. Here's the end result, preceded by the stock photo:

I'm happy, now I just need to go break it in!

That looks snazzy. I'm sure that would make SF4 a lot more fun. I can't stand playing it on the 360 gamepad.

Nice. How long did it take you to do?

Not long at all, once I received the parts. The top screws right off (with those six screws you see), then I just unhooked the four middle buttons (quick disconnects), snapped off the gate and unscrewed the ball top. Then it was snap in and connect the new buttons, snap in the new gate and screw on the bat top before putting everything back together. I had no idea what I was doing and took about ten minutes.
The hard part is finding some place to order from right now. I got mine from a shop that is opening and closing when the orders pile on too fast; took about a week and a half to get it processed out and three days to get here from Japan. It makes the game more fun, certainly. Moves are much easier to do, and I even use it for some arcade games. Unfortunately, it doesn't make the timing of the Trials any easier. ![]() |
