We exist, according to tv.

For a while it seemed like my home would never really be mentioned much aside from occasional oblique references to 'the troubles' or certain doe eyed IRA killers but recently I've noticed two references to Northern Ireland in popular media.
The first being an out of the blue finale in Hellboy 2, which caused me all sorts of giggles "We have to get to County Antrim!' has a ring to it, that I guess "The fate of the world lies in the balance, to WINNIPEG" might sound to Canadians.
The second came last night while watching an episode of The Simpsons. It was a mediocre Simpsons, another "The Simpsons go to x and have wacky hi jinks with racial stereotype Y" episode again featuring the Giant's Causeway to set up a Qbet joke.
I guess it's a hard sense of achievement to explain for folks here. You tend to see Melbourne feature, credited or not, in many a film these days.
I'm hoping that in the not too distant future we'll join one of those obscure cool country clubs from the Middle East or South America who get to have their moment in the sun as the backdrop to a Bond film. Seeing Daniel Craig being chased by a fireball down a corridor before leaping to safety from the Bushmills distillery would see me dying a happy, happy man.
