Radio That is Much More Intelligent than Its Listeners

Listening to the radio at work today was rather interesting. My local KISS station isn't one I listen to often. But in the mornings I like a good radio show and a friend suggested I tune in. So today I did and brought together some rather interesting conclusions.

Callers are obviously welcomed with open arms on this radio show, as they are in many others across the country, and fortunately for me they do not have you take an IQ test. I heard poor English, people who didn't understand certain words, and people who just plain lack common sense. Sure, this is pretty much ordinary, especially give this show's target audience is the 18 - 25 range and many of them are too busy twittering and facebooking to keep up with any kind of real news and not if Jessica Simpson is pregnant.

I know I am making an unfair assumption there, but it was just one of the topics that actually got brought up by a caller. Then I had to laugh, the hosts started talking about the economy and government officials and all I could think was at that very moment they had to be losing a good chunk of their viewer base, all except me and some other fools at work who were genuinely yelling at their radios attentively listening to the hosts hold the one intelligent conversation with a damn decent call in! that girl who called about Jessica Simpson was probably in a complete state of confusion. Yes I know, I am being horribly unfair again, but it was a thought that stuck with me simply because one of my coworkers chimed in with "Who is Joe Biden?" and I looked at her and said "The guy who knocked Jessica Simpson up!" She looked back and said "So those rumors, were for REAL?!"

Yea, that was worth it. I usually have to be the know it all, but that was well well worth it. To make matters worse later in the show they talked about Star Trek, not just the movie, the old series and made a few references. Sure that's something geeks would know. Next I heard a chess piece reference that the caller failed to understand and it just kept rolling down hill.

When speaking with another co-worker of mine, one who knows who Joe Biden is and eventually gave it away, he understood everything and that's when we coined this topic. Radio that is much more intelligent than its listeners! Now for heavens sake I hope I didn't make any errors in this blog!

An aside: I haven't posted here in... well ever, so I decided I'd like to keep my blog here since I know it will be read! I know it's a gaming site and all, but I'll be posting about just about anything! I hope you enjoy either way!
