Godfather 2 - Thoughts on completion

Just finished up Godfather 2 and figured I would share my thoughts on it.
I played the first Godfather game when it came out on the 360 and thought it was ok. The mechanics were there to make a pretty decent GTA clone, but there was nothing to really take it over the top. The whole thing felt pretty generic, and some parts of it felt a little clunkier than it should.
I went into Godfather 2 with rather low expectations, and found myself pleasantly surprised. You travel between 3 locations (New York, Florida, and Cuba,) taking over businesses and various crime rings. As you take over crime rings you earn various upgrades (Bullet Proof Vests, Incendiary Ammo, Bulletproof Cars,) which are then granted to all the members of your family. Guards are posted at your businesses and on occasion you will find that rival family's will attempt to take over your Business. This is where the Don's View comes in. You have an overhead map that you can go to and send members of your family to go defend your businesses or to attack other businesses while you are off dealing with other things. There were a few moments where it seemed like I was being attacked from all sides, but this enables the player to easily handle the various attacks that come your way.
The story was alright, nothing overly memorable, but it did feature the characters from the film and the way you interacted with them worked very well.
Overall I was able to beat the game over the course of a weekend, had I bought the game, I might have been a little upset by this, but for a rental it was great.
