Teleport, Chocobo, Warp, Teleport.......

I decided last night that when I can't get a party to try to get more merits and boost stats, I'm going to do quests. I've done a ton of quests in FFXI, probably close to 200, and I know I've got a lot more that I can do. I've barely even touched ToAU quests, for example.

So after an hour of LFP last night with no luck (I rewrote all my BLM macros, go me) I picked a quest to do that I'd been meaning to get done for a looooong feakin' time: the Crawlers Nest Map quest. The quest isn't hard at all, that's not why I've been putting it off. No, the quest is just very long. As in about 2 1/2 hours long if you're doing it all, and all of that is traveling. Essentially what you do for the quest is this: Talk to the mayor of Selbina and he'll give you an item, a Lump of Selbina Clay. What he wants you to do with that is to go to various Stone Monuments in most of the original pre-Zilart zones, Northlands excluded. In all there's 17, though you only have to do 15 (Sauromugue Champaign and Batallia Downs) to get the map. I had already done two of them, SC and North Gustaburg (NG being the most time consuming, since you have to go from South Gustaburg and through Dangruf Wadi to get under the huge waterfall in North Gustaburg). Last night I got 6 done, this morning I did the final 8 that I needed. All told it took me about 2 hours, but it's nice to finally have that quest out of the way. Now I have just about every map that you can get, at least to every zone I have access to.

And that's it, that was my gaming for yesterday. Not a whole lot, but I'm happy with what I did get done.

I loved that quest. It was really neat to discover nooks and crannies of zones that you had run through 100s of times but never realized they were there. I especially enjoyed the one that you mentioned; getting to the base of the waterfall. I had no idea you could even go down there until I did that quest.

Yeah, that was nice. I love the way it looks down there, I just wish you could get there quicker.
