Street Fighter IV and near-violence.

Posted 02-17-2009 at 05:11 PM by TrackZero
To the two girls at the EBGames located at Yonge and Eglinton in Toronto. Go die in a fire.

When I come in and ask to buy Street Fighter IV CE for 360, I expect you'll tell me I should have pre-ordered it. I mean, I get that, I know the company line, I know what to expect. I'm just going in for the off chance you did have a copy, nothing more.

But when both of you suddenly get this attitude with me and start making faces like you wish I'd just leave, sure. I mean, I guess I'd be burned out after a busy day and be grouchy at the "gamer" guy coming in to ask about a game at the game store you're working at. I get that.

However, when you utter the phrase "I wish guys like you would learn to pre-order if they want something.". Bitch, it's go time. I'll hit a woman in a clean fight, equal rights and all that, it's a non-issue. You're lucky I had enough self control to know I'd find greener pastures elsewhere as well as realize it's my own fault for walking into your cesspool of a store in the first place.

Thankfully, the 15 year old kid working at the nearby HMV wasn't as broken and jaded. He politely told me the game wasn't in yet, then checked their computer to see if they were getting any CEs, followed by him taking my pre-order for the CE which should be in tomorrow (I was the first person to even place an order for it).

Once again, to the girls at EBGames. Fuck off and die. I know your lives are just as sad as many of the customers you claim to hate, how you enjoy the attention of the man-children who hang around your store and probably post on Facebook constantly flirting with your online boyfriend off in Kentucky. So don't try to project your own issues on to me. You're paid to do a job, do it with some respect.

Especially if one of these days you run across a customer lacking self-control.

(For my American friends, EBGames is the branding for Gamestop in Canada.)

You have a good point. When you work at a Video games store....don't treat your customers like shit.

They are after all...YOUR CUSTOMERS.

Its too bad that EB lets things like this go on...when places like Amazon / Steam make it easy to buy games without lip from some pathetic excuse for a salesperson.

I miss calling it EB actually...

...and while I TOTALLY appreciate your sentiment as I get this way too, I then ask myself what I was expecting exactly...then get in my Corvette and go back to my fancy apartment and play with all my toys, paid for a by a glorious, high paying job. People like this for the most part will never experience that.

Don't you have real stores in Canada?

Shop for games there instead.

Pre-order is a false promise. I pre-ordered and all I got was an email this morning stating that they were having difficulty filling my order as their supplier couldn't allocate enough units. I was irate to say the least.

So, literally about half an hour ago I just decided to stop by the Best Buy across the street and...BAM! Three copies. Grabbed one and out the store I went. I canceled the order immediately. You got lucky. Others might want to try Best Buy as they didn't even have these listed as in-store available.

Everytime I go to EB Games I usually fantasize about murdering at least 40% of the people in the store. The staff knows nothing about games and all the customers who are gamers think they know everything.

I do my best to avoid EB if at all possible. If I do need to in there, I make it a point ot be in and out in under 5 minutes. Being in there just makes me feel dirty.

I used to work at EB (EBX was kind of an elite line of EB stores, same company)

Long story short (I've told it a million times on here) Made friends in the business, continued to be a patron at my friends' stores after I left the company. They sell my copy of Dead Rising I pre-ordered because I was on vacation when the street day hit (I was due home the next day)

After I arrived and found out they sold my copy, I went home, grabbed my final EB gift card, spent it, canceled all my pre-orders, told them they fucking blow, and I don't give a fuck about "store policy" they sold a copy of a game I PAID FOR. Next I left, bought my copy of Dead Rising at Target, and put all my pre-orders in at a GameCrazy (not so national chain, MUCH better policies)

I haven't even driven near an EB in 2.5 years and would never return, no matter how great the exclusive, or no matter how desperate I become.
