Presidents are Born, Not Made (The Reagan Series)

Note: This is a hinged poem. It can be read using just the left and middle, or just the middle and right. Unfortunately the formatting on here makes it funky.
Presidents are Born, Not Made
On the day he was
his mother knew it was time
kicking and screaming
of the squalling babe
he melted the hearts of women
His mother dreamed of the day
her son would be
Presidents are Born, Not Made
On the day he was
born
to lead
his mother knew it was time
he made it known
kicking and screaming
there would be
no wasting of time
no wasting of time
under his watch
The world changed
before the eyes
before the eyes
of the squalling babe
of the eloquent man
as
he melted the hearts of women
he inspired the minds of men
His mother dreamed of the day
her son would be
President
of the United States of America

It's very visually appealing and I like the symmetry of certain phrases, balanced by a lack of any simile or even metaphor. Perhaps that is intentional, but it does leave it a little dry. I like the piece because of the hinged effect and the opportunity for opposites that provided. I think the title belabors the point of the poem a little bit - it tells you what you should be feeling instead of allowing the poem to make you feel it.
