Every Sunday, I'll try to post a new game that has been overlooked in the shuffle.

Yay! Found a copy of Yakuza 2 so that I won't be scouring the interwebs for a jacked-up copy on eBay this time next year. Unfortunately, the PS3 is back home, so I'll have to wait until later to play it. But I have it!

Of course, I still have to finish the first Yakuza game, which I quite enjoyed but it, like a lot of other great PS2 titles, got shuffled off to the side once I got my 360 early last year. From what I hear, Yakuza 2 is probably as close as we're going to ever get to seeing Shenmue 3 from Sega, so I'll groove with it, warts and all.

I wasn't going to bother with the game until I was watching the 1Up show from a few weeks ago where they talked about it and after seeing it in motion and hearing them rave about it, I had to get my mitts on it. It helped that I really enjoyed the first one.

But why did I have to get it NOW, when I have Dead Space, LBP and Fable 2 all hitting in the space of a week and a half? ARG!

I envy you. I've been trying to hunt down a copy of Yakuza 2 myself. However, I haven't played the original game.

From what I hear, there is some excellent recapping done in Yakuza 2 to help bring newcomers up to speed. That said, I still want to finish the first game before I delve into the sequel.

If you're having a hard time finding a copy of Yakuza 2 in a few days, let me know. I'm sure my EB will have a spare copy around. I think they had a few behind the counter at the store I was in today too (not my usual EB).

Yeah I've heard about that "flashback" feature as well. That made me feel okay about jumping into the sequel without touching the original. I wish I would have played it, but I just didn't have room for Yakuza 1 at the time.

Thanks for the offer, but there are a couple stores I could look at tomorrow that I haven't been to in a while. I have a good chance of finding Yakuza 2 at my local GameStop or my favorite local Lincoln-based shop. I'll have a look around tomorrow.

Thanks for reminding me about this, Spig. I want a pick up a copy before Yakuza 2 goes out of print. I've heard that Sega didn't press many copies...

Oh, and good luck with that fall release schedule. As always, it's a mess. Publishers did a better job of spreading things around this year, but more needs to be done. October and November are a joke.

NO kidding... and this was a year where I haven't felt the 'gotta have it' syndrome as much as last year, yet I still feel overwhelmed by the game flood this year.

It's mainly because there were about 3-4 games in Early September (which I have but haven't been able to play much of since my 360 was dead for essentially all of September) and then I have at least 3 games in a week and then maybe Valkyria Chronicles come the end of October. November only has Chrono Trigger DS on my 'must buy' list (though I do want to play Mirror's Edge) and December is all about Persona 4...

But yeah. Too much this fall, though I'm hoping that a few of them won't take too long to plow through and I'll be set for the new year (the only thing coming out next year that I have my eyes on is inFamous).
