I picked up a copy of Too Human today for like $6.
It has serious "Bouncer Syndrome". By that, I mean it takes way too long for you to get back into action when you die, which is a lot.
I'm way more forgiving of The Bouncer because it was a PS2 launch title and the devs weren't familiar with all the tricks of the PS2. It lead to long loading times and irritating ally AI, who would steal your xp by getting in the last hit on an enemy.
It's weird, because I really like the look of the game, but I find the crafting and the lack of a coherent story absolutely befuddling. Also, your human cohorts are absolutely annoying.

I don't know of The Bouncer. Were there other repercussions for dying, because annoyance was the only thing that keeps you from being afraid of dying in Too Human.

If you died in the Bouncer, you had to wait about 10-15 seconds for the opening title fmv to load, hit start to skip it and wait about 5-10 seconds for the title screen to load and then you had to choose load game, wait for it to read the memory card, select the file, and then wait another 15-20 seconds for it to load your last save. So yeah, it's similar.
