South Africa, Part Deux

So, I’ve been living in South Africa for nearly 3 months now. Kinda weird to think that. I mean... I lived in the UK for 3 years. Things like the Tube, TFL, pints, pounds and cold weather all became very normal to me. Moving back to South Africa was a little like rediscovering those things you had left behind, and finding that they really hadn’t changed much, but you had. Sort of. But better.
Living in South Africa is great. I love driving my car to work every day, even if I do get stuck in traffic. I love the knowledge that I can go anywhere I want, anytime, because of my car. I don’t have to wait for a bus, or worry about a strike on the tube. I just get in my car and go. Speaking of which, its doing very well thanks very much for asking. As I said in my last blog post, I got a 1993 Mercedes Benz 190E. Very, very nice car.
The other weird thing was that, some time after landing in SA, I started to think about what it was like to live in the UK, and realized there were a few things I missed. Like a cold pint of cider (the alcoholic kind) after work with friends, or my brothers. I guess in some ways I miss my old job, because it was a very good place to work. The new job is good, but not as good. Its probably the best I could do for the moment though. I guess the old company just had such a good vibe to it.
I bought a new gaming PC, which is going nicely. Glad to finally have some new kit! Although it was a hassle to get it going due to some of my old components failing, such as my motherboard and power supply. But its working!
I haven’t played with my DS in ages. Ever since I had all of those games stolen from me, it hasn’t quite been the same. And I think I left the remaining games I had in the UK, except for one – Sonic Rush Adventure. Its kinda killed it for me. I can get Megaman ZX and Castlevania Order of Ecclesia back for about R90 each, which is something like $5 each. I don’t know why they are so cheap, those prices are from a reputable online retailer, so I don’t suspect funny business. Nevertheless, having nearly finished both of them, I’m not sure I want them back.
The thing is... its almost like having a DS is a part of my past now. Its most especially evident with Pokemon. I’m thinking about buying HeartGold, but I’m just not sure I can. I mean... I’m not sure I can get into that again. Dare I say I might have outgrown them? It is, after all, the same game as all the others, although like all the others it will be incredibly addictive. I guess I just don’t have the time to spend 200 hours levelling up my Pokemon anymore. I spend a lot more time socializing than I used to.
