Weekend 365 Progress

Posted 02-01-2010 at 01:05 PM by shunoshi
Over the weekend, I was paging through my D&D character sheets and came across one to do my first writing project on. His name is Elios Malchron. He's a Rylsharan Elf and a slave. I'm planning on doing a journal writeup for him, but discovered that I need to do a little more contemplating on how this world handles time. I didn't want to follow the modern day calendar.

So, over the weekend I came up with the following calendar that is followed widely across the continents of Tylgren (new planet name, yay):

One year = 183 days (days = 24 hours) - Years are calculated from the Day of Sundering. This was the day the planet was "destroyed" and put in its current state. Years are abbreviated with BS or AS (Before or After Sundering).

Moon Cycle = 61 days - 3 times per year for a single night, both moons are visible at night. There is one night where both are visible and full. This is the first day of the new year. The moon cycles are tracked by number (first, second, & third).

Each Moon cycle is split into six 10-day weeks plus The Day of Alaya (both moons visible that night). These six weeks are named after the elemental gods of Air, Earth, Fire, Water, Light, and Shadow (Akadi, Grumbar, Kossuth, Istishia, Elluvia, and Zyrk).

Days are also tracked by number.

An average day on the calendar would read as such: 7th Day of Kossuth, 2nd Cycle, 257 AS.

Well, now that I have a calendar in place, I can get to journal writing starting tomorrow morning!
