Tis the Season...For Murder!

Screw the holiday cheer, I'm talking about Halloween-inspired, turn off the lights, play in the dark, shit yourself gaming! In celebration I present my favorite scary games of all time!
5. Eternal Darkness (GCN)
There is a reason Dennis Dyack is still relevant in the industry, and its not Too Human. Eternal Darkness was one of the first games to mess with your head, and it messed with it gloriously! I had hoped at the time that would usher in an era of awesome meta designs that could add to the tension of gaming, but aside from Arkham Asylum, it hasn't really happened. Still, Eternal Darkness remains in the top of many peoples favorite survival horror games because it was mature, took chances, and was really scary.
4. Fatal Frame (PS2/Xbox)
Sure the second had better graphics, a better story and creepier enemies, but the experience of wandering into a creepy mansion armed only with an old camera for the first time was wicked. Who knew something that combined Pokemon Snap and Silent Hill could be so freaking scary...until the first time you see a ghost come screaming at you out of the darkness and all you can do is say, "cheese!"
3. Siren: Blood Curse (PSN/PS3)
The newest game on this list, they just don't make many games like this anymore. Limited (or no!) weapons and ammo, creepy as fuck enemies and a wild japanese-style story of a cursed town doomed to repeat the same gory events over and over. Bonus points for the little girl sections that force you to hide in terror as shambling shibito search for you. Freaky!
2. Silent Hill 2 (PS2)
Everything was haunting. The music, atmosphere, town, sound effects, story, even the shady protagonist all combined to provide one of the most lonely experiences of all time. The progression was brilliant too, because no matter what you did it just seemed like you were going deeper and deeper into madness and into some evil place of no return. This could be number one if it weren't for my soft spot for the king of survival horror...
1. Resident Evil Remake (GCN)
Where to begin. The first real survival horror game got a remake, and its still my favorite of all time. Not only are the zombies still the best looking in any game to date, but the crimson heads jumping up from the ground will still make you shit your pants. Not even the hamfisted dialogue could ruin the awesome atmosphere of this mansion. People like to harp on the controls and save system, but this isn't an action game, it's a survival game. So manage ammo, try to sneak by zombies and be sure you know where the hell you're going, because where you're going is a zombie-infested underground laboratory of an evil multi-million dollar corporation!
This year it doesn't seem like we have many, so I might go through Dead Space again.
Anyone else have any favorites?
