View Full Version : What Store (Chains) Do You Use?

So the Magic game in XBLA has reawakened the fun I used to have with friends way back when. I'd like to know what store chains you guys pick your stuff up at (miniatures and tabletop stuff, too) so I can look around and see if there are any in my area. Of course, if someone actually lives in the San Antonio area and can recommend one that isn't a big brand that'd be great, too.
And yes, I know I can pick the odd deck at Wal Mart or Target, but I just like the atmosphere in those stores (plus people to play), and I might look to find a job since it turns out working at Game Crazy is a fucking joke.

Most game-related store i've encountered don't really exist as part of chains for the most part (Games Workshop stores aside). If it's basically Magic cards you're looking for, there should be a ton of shops that can hook you up including some toy stores and sports card stores. But generally if you're looking to get your geek on, your best bet tends to be the local specialty gaming shops. These will generally carry a veriety of card, board, role-playing and minis games, and have the added benefit of helping you find people to play against with your new toys.
If local shops aren't cutting it, there's always "teh internets". A personal favorite is The War Store (http://www.thewarstore.com/), but I'm more the tabletop minis type. A little digging can find you some good deals, even eBay can find you some good scores. But if you have a shop in your area, I usually recommend supporting them over online shops, if only to keep people playing your game of choice in your area.
Good Luck!

Thanks. I found a couple that aren't too far out (they're actually in the part of town you'd expect, but I actually live 20 min outside of the city limits), and I'll be checking at least one out tomorrow.

One way to find an LGS sometimes is by using the fourms of whatever game you're into. Most game companies have some sort of "opponent finder" or store locator thread, might give you some leads.

Which was that, if you don't mind my asking?
