Sometimes it just ain't easy bein' green. ...Wait, that's not quite what I meant.

Gaming is not, compared to many other things, a complicated hobby. Expensive, sure, and diverse, but not complicated. We like playing games. Give us a keyboard and a mouse and a monitor (or a controller and a TV) and we're set. Mix in real life, though - jobs, families, travel, the general grind - and suddenly things aren't so simple any more. This week, Eric [Ravenlock], Clayton [Bacalou], Robert [Trebor], Bryan [Smoof], Jacob [MagGnome] and Warren [Mayhem] talk about the burnout that we all occasionally feel when our urge to game wanes or, worse, gaming starts to feel like a chore... and what to do about it.

Luckily, of course, it isn't all doom & gloom, and our retro segment includes a lot of fond memories of Serious Sam (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serious_Sam), coming soon in revamped glory to an XBox 360 near you via XBLA. In our freeware & indie section, 8-Bit Killer (http://www.locomalito.com/juegos_8bit_killer.php) and Hinterland: Orc Lords (http://www.hinterland-game.com/) are the primary targets, with mention also made of recent updates to Spelunky (http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=4017.0) and Zeno Clash (http://www.zenoclash.com/).

I'm loving the Dawn of Discovery/Anno 1404 demo too, but I know I'll be using up those 3 install limitations within the next year with my planned hardware changes :(. Unfortunately they're irrevocable, unlike Crysis. I'll have to wait and see if they patch out the DRM to something more tolerable.

I didn't know that the Dawn of Discovery DRM was so stringent. That's definitely disappointing. Is it like that on Steam as well?

I really enjoyed listening to this podcast, even if I was there when we recorded it. Hopefully we start getting a few more replies in the threads. :)

Sorry for the late reply :|. Yeah, it's like that on Steam and Impulse too. I was hoping with the addition to Impulse things would be different. It's so overkill though. Especially when the game suffers from the DRM like this one, people are having hangups and freezing because the game keeps calling home during playtime.

Edit: The fix is to block the game with a real firewall. Unacceptable as far as I am concerned.

Thanks for the reply.

That is very disappointing. I guess I won't be buying the game until they remove the DRM.

I think I am going to do the same thing, I really enjoyed the demo but do not want to pay for something I can only install three times, even over steam.

Or do as I do... click purchase, switch windows, then click torrent download start. There is a very good patch out from Razor. I may use the actual install after my next computer overhaul and windows 7 installation but meh. It's worth it for $28. Gogamer madness sales ftw.

How did you get it form Gogamer? I thought they did not ship to Canada.

It took a lot of work. But I have a relative in the states to send it to. The problem is with payment, their checkout and paypal won't do the US shipping addy and Canadian billing addy. It was a fantastic pain in the ass and took about 2 hours. Finally, I signed up and used Google checkout which went through. But yeah, google checkout + someone to ship it to.
