2D co-op side scrolling physics based gameplay is the order of the day, and this demo delivers. The game is going to be released on July 3 on PC, July 9 on PS3 and God knows when on XBL.

You'll be able to pre-order this via Steam in the coming days.

The console version doesn't have online play, I believe. Does the PC version?

Finished off the demo...damn, this game is badass. It kills me that I wont be able to buy it. Between this and Anno 1404, I need $90 to be satisfied for this month...

It's a pretty great demo, I agree.

No, neither version does. But they hope to patch it in.

As for the demo? It was incredible. Loved every minute of it.

So, it was announced to cost $30 on Steam. That'll make the XBLA release remarkable either as being $10 cheaper, breaking a new price ceiling, or being split into parts (making some folks whine about how they were lied to about being sold a full game).

Well if you're one of those people who really hates DRM, I can save you some money by telling you that Anno 1404 has a 3 install limit and constantly contacts the authentication servers during gameplay which lags out the game.
I had to screw around with my firewall to stop it doing so.

Wow, fantastic demo. Played it on PC w/ my 360 controller and it looked beautiful and played damn smoothly. Very seriously considering pre-ordering.

Anyone having luck getting Non-x360 controllers to run?

Tough position... I really want to grab it but I can't with those install limits. I reinstall my things a few times a year, whether upgrades or otherwise. Win7 is coming out, that's one, I'm also upgrading soon, that's another. If I upgrade in stages, well..that's 2 right there. Bah. I would pirate it but it took me a long time to clean up my computer 100% of all non-legit stuff a few months ago. My job interview comes with a polygraph that covers this area as well and I don't want to risk everything just to play this game :/.

They may issue a patch later to remove this heavy DRM, especially since the mass of stupidity has already hit all the review sites/amazon/etc. about Anno 1404.

P.s. Trine is full of win.

Wow that was an awesome demo...lots of character....

Made me wish someone would try and do a serious rpg sidescroller like that...something different.

Then it's certainly a good thing that I don't give a damn about DRM.
Mass Effect had the install limit thing...I once accidentally reached my install limit of 5 when I wanted to replay the game (As a note, install limits don't matter as long as you uninstall and rescind(?) an activation), so what did I do? Took five minutes on google and found a crack, then happily played Mass Effect.

I'm sad that this won't have online multiplayer at launch, but will get it to support the devs to implement it in a patch.

That's ok then. :)
I'm the same, I really don't care about DRM. It's just an internet hot topic that has been blown all out of proportion as far as I'm concerned.

But all the same, the authentication server thing is quite annoying. If I'd have known, I'd have waited a few months for the inevitable DRM-free release.

Seems cheapest on Steam. $29.99 + Shadowgrounds as a preorder bonus.

Ah what a bummer. I will still get it; I think the game is worth the $30, plus the addition of Shadowground doesnt hurt on Steam.

You get Shadowgrounds for free, though.

The game is out!!! For people who have not pre-ordered, get it NOW. It is listed for only $20 for some reason. This pisses me off as I just paid $30 for it a couple days ago, but I hope some CoGers can take advantage of this possible mistake.

EDIT: Looks like it was a mistake and has been since corrected. Hopefully someone got it while it was cheap!

Just finished running through the demo. A couple of gripes. First, I couldn't seems to be blocking when moving left as the knight. So skeletons behind me were trouble. Second, the mouse aiming circle was really sluggish for me. I am thinking that is just due to my laptop.

Anyone else notice either of these?

Otherwise, a very cool game. I have always hoped someone would go back and made a really pretty sidescroller with a lot of visual depth. The visual portion of the game is really slick.

The direction the knight blocks in is relative to where you put the cursor, so if your cursor is on the right side of the screen, he'll block right, no matter what direction he's moving in; if your cursor is above him, he'll put the shield over his head and crouch under it; if your cursor is anywhere on the 180-degree arc above him, that's where he'll block. He can move and jump in any direction while blocking as well -- the only thing he can't do is attack.

Second, the mouse aiming circle was really sluggish for me. I am thinking that is just due to my laptop.

Probably just need to drop the resolution or settings down a bit -- I had a sluggish cursor as well, and it's because I can't run the game at 1920x1200 on my 2600 XT. Dropping the resolution down a couple of notches completely clears that up for me..

I'm loving the game so far the more I get into it. I'ma start an official thread in General Gaming :)

You, sir have made me look like a goober, but I love it because now I know how to block appropriately.

Just tried this tonight, and have to agree that it is a blast. I do wish it was $20 on Steam like it seemingly will be on PSN; I like having the mouse for drawing, grappling, and blocking moves. I might wait for a price drop or deal on Steam because of this.

I just played the demo and goddamn it was awesome.
I love these types of games. The last one I played like was The Lost Vikings, so it definitely hit some happy memories within me.

But, $30? :/ I'd be much happier at a $20 price point. I just can't bring myself to hit the "buy" button as of now...dammit.
