I saw that, I think it's a really solid move for the Cavs. Shaq is getting up there in age, but he brings a lot to the table. The Cavs need more maturity and leadership out of Lebron, Shaq will lead by example.

A classy veteran is exactly what LeBron needs to set him straight after that punk-ass move skipping the handshakes.
Oh, wait, you said Shaq? Never mind.

They need to make sure he does not play too much during the regular season to keep him fresh.

i love shaq but i consider this a bad move because the lack of an inside presence is not why the cavs lost in the playoffs...does no one else really see that this team needs a legit shooting guard? i know mo williams is supposed to be a scoring point guard but they really need him to be a playmaker and let someone else stretch the defense...sending big Z to the bench in favour of shaq makes no sense to me...the minute share will not help either player and none of them are capable of playing power forward.
i'm hoping to be proven wrong though...or maybe the cavs are not done dealing...the moves prior to the draft so far have been interesting and i'm betting the draft tonight will be full of surprises.

This says it all:
Bringing in O'Neal may soothe James' concerns that the Cavs wouldn't be able to get him enough help to make a run at numerous titles. Ferry still wants to re-sign Varejao this summer and may look to add another perimeter player through a trade or free agency.
If the Cavs don't win next year, well I believe James will just try another team to win it with. A huge gamble for the Cavs but worth since they are looking at losing James.
According to Shaq, he found out via Twitter.

Shaq is old and I don't think Brown will be able to manage him correctly...he's not exactly the best coach on the planet.
But I think it's a decent move for the Cavs...
Lebron is going to need his superstar co-star to win, he can't do it himself.

Shaq is no superstar at this stage in his career. He's a good player now - not a great player. I'm sure LeBron demanded more help and got to OK this deal, restricting Shaq to 25 to 30 minutes is only the beginning of the headache for a team that has the best open-court player in the world.
I'm skeptical but hope this works. Shaq is definitely a much better option than Tyson Chandler who was the next target for the Cavs.
On the other side of this deal, I feel awful for the Suns. I hope they swallow more pride and deal both Stoudemire and Nash. The Spurs and Magic got better.
Great move by the Magic to shop Rafer Alston away ASAP and get Carter in the process. Carter definitely had a rebound year last year. He looks good on paper but we'll find out if it's just because he toned down his own hype and played up being the stat guy on a lottery team.
Celtics might be moving Rondo or at least dangling him out there. Ainge went and lost his mind over the last couple of days. There's no need to panic for them, but they could make a big deal with Phoenix for Nash before the year is out. Problem is, Nash will finally have to play defense.

I will flip out if the Celtics deal Rondo.

Cleveland got rid of two non performers and in return got a guy who averaged 18 points and 9 rebounds and will be an asset in slowing down Dwight Howard.
Win for the cavs.

Yes, the trade was essentially Shaq for Pavlovic. But taking on Shaq's salary means they can't do much else this season. Why not pursue Stoudemire for the year instead or something else along those lines?
Shaq averaged 18 and 9 playing for a 7-seconds-or-less offense. It's a little more like 13 and 7 if you ask me.

The Cavs are looking for Lebron's Scottie or Kobe. That one-two punch that will guarantee them a championship season.
The problem is that they picked up Shaq way too late in his career.
As for going for Stoudemire, I wonder if the idea behind picking up Shaq was to have him come off the books when Lebron does? That way they have more cap room to plead with James to stay a Cav.
