Before it got pushed back to Feb 2009, it was supposed to have come out sometime this month. :(

Yea, I remember them saying that this was going to be a great holiday Wii title, but then never heard much more about it. The thing I think confuses people is what could the story possibly be. This game may be a unexpected hit.

I can't quite remember, but I think there's an interview/video out there that I think described the story.

Well you do have lots to keep you busy...Mr. Import :D. Seriously, i'm glad it's past the holidays. I think it will do better when not in the holiday glut.
These videos give me the creeps.
Yeah, but will you buy/rent it?

Yeah, but will you buy/rent it?
Ya know, I probably will. They are different enough that I want to giveit a try. I especially like the perspective of climbing over all these different surfaces. The developer could have made a very typical 3D platformer-type game where you can leap from ledge to ledge as a spider. But the environments are extremely creative and different. Creepy, but interesting.

I like this video a lot! Wow, did they ever make these creatures brutal... The scorpion pinning a gecko and plunging its stinger down the poor lizard's throat? Tearing the wings off of a wasp? Yikes!

What I found interesting about the premise of the game is how the developers developed a story for this game. The "creature" you play follows two humans who converse in the desert that they need to do or find. As you follow the two humans, is how the gameplay unfolds with the creature vs everything in that environment.

Off of finishing the first two chapters of the game, this is some good stuff. The tarantula and scorpion play very different from one another and the motion controls for pulling off attacks/finishers are rock solid. The soundtrack is a huge plus. :D

I hope you come back soon to give more impressions. I played through the first 3 chapters and your impressions were accurate. To add to that a little, what i've liked so far:
-intuitive controls. Moves are unlocked as you kill creatures for points. It's simple but extremely addictive.
-collecting bugs. You certainly don't have to go around collecting but again it helps some to unlock some cool stuff. Besides, if you are playing this most likely collecting isn't a bad thing.
-Bosses- So far they have been varied but it's the strategies you needed to beat them. The last one I just got past was a very natural way to end the chapter and the solution was seamless to the story.
-Environments: It's the Wii not a 360/PS3 yet it doesn't suffer. The environments look great and playing as either creature, I felt immered from what I was seeing around me.
-Exploration- total fun. If you thought having Mario walk on the ceiling in SMG was fun, this beats it by a mile. I am an explorer by nature when I play but the ease of movement with the creatures, makes you want to go exploring. And you can't get lost. You press the 2 button to help you with an arrow that points the direction if you need help. I love that it is up the the player if you need it. Choices for the gamer. What a concept.
If you have a Wii and are looking for something to play pick this up. Rent it if nothing else. So far it's a very good adventure/explore type game. Except you aren't human this time around or an alien...you play as some desert creatures. And as you play you are overhearing some conversation that ties in nicely something that occurred in the desert explaining why two men are looking around in said desert. You are literally ease dropping on their conversation.
So far it's a game that was easy to pick up, gets deeper as you play and best of all the waggle controls have a purpose and are not only useful, but accurate.

Thanks for the impressions guy. This sounds like a winner and right up my alley. I noticed it was both out and cheap. I may well...lay-by it since I haven't even started (or downloaded) all the games I've purchased on Steam and Impuse...and uni starts back on monday. Plus I've got a copy of Zak and Wiki still unopened (damn MLAAK distracting me from other Wii games. Shouldn't have started playing that again...)
The point is I want this whether or not I should :D

It looked like you were hooked to BKS from the weekend thread. I think i'll rent this next since it was another one I wanted to play.

I have a copy unopened of Z&W too. A great game i hear but it will be there when you get to it :D. I didn't realize until you mentioned it, Deadly Creatures is cheap. I just checked on Gamefly and it's $35 already. Since it's not the usual $60 I don't feel so bad trumping up the game for those with a Wii to buy it. Let us know what you think of it. I'm having a blast with this and I just made it to chapter 9. The only thing I miss is the achievements :).

This game looks awesome. And from the lack of forum attention it is getting, I bet this gem is being overlooked. I plan to pick this up. This almost seems like the type of game where if you wait for it to go down in price, it will simply disappear from shelves altogether. Then it will show up on Ebay and Amazon Marketplace for $100. So I think I will have to grab this sooner than later.

I have mentioned this title not only here and gave my impressions but other Wii related threads. Even threads that downright I have derailed mentioning this game. I don't know if the supply and demand will make this that rare of a title that it will be $100 but maybe that will drive up interest for the second one. Of course, if sales are in the dumpster, there won't a sequel.

This game suffers from terrible cover art. It looks like its going to be a 4 out of 10 shovelware based on the cover. :(

Maybe they figure that's how you get sales for a game on the Wii. Other games with that type of boxart do well. Even EA tried it with Boom Blox. Just a guess.

Ahh well my stack of unplayed games can wait another week or so...
